OT: Battery expert? who can help?
Hi guys of the almighty current ;)
I can get a second LI-O Battery (from a crashed car) for my Prius (Hybrid) for very less money. My knowledge told me that, if I switch this second battery parallel to the existed battery they both will decharge and charge. I just double the capacity, correct? Andreas |
There is a General Topic forum for this purpose.

First of all be very careful what your doing there. There is a tremdous amount of potential in those batteries and their full of nasty chemicals which can and will explode with dealt with incorrectly.
Battieries can be connected in parallel (improves Ah) or in series (doubles voltage). Observe polarity very closely as connecting batteries to one another with reversed polarity will result in above explosion. Furthermore the charging systems are only sized to maintiain a certain amount of Ah and basically doubeling that may cause permanant damage. This is not really the kind of thing a shade tree mechanic should be fussing with. |
