SalmonSargo MOD Pak

Eye Candy - NSS SalmonSargo:

This MOD is JSGME ready!

The reason I created this mod is simple: If you edit your skin texture to add ship ID numbers, the numbers display correctly on the STBD side but they are mirrored on the PORT side. So by making these decal textures you get the correct orientation on both side.
I also wanted some of the other MODS all combined into one MOD.

Credits for this MOD go to the following:
SKWAS - S3d 3ditor
DXTBmp - Graphics Manipulator
Paint - Graphics Editor (To cheap to go buy Photo Shop)
JSGME - Generic MOD Enabler
Webster's - GFOv1.5 (Game Fixes Only MOD)
Webster's - Sub Draft Fix
FoTRS - Major MODS v1.2
TMO - Major MODS v1.9
RFB - Major MODS V2.0
UBI - Silent Hunter IV v1.5

This MOD has only been tested with SH4 v1.5, PE4, RSRDC and GFO but should be compatible with all of the above listed MODS and Utilities.
I you are running TMO, RFB or FoTRS, you may want to replace/remove some of the files provided here as a stock SH4 v1.5 baseline.
Such as the .eqp .sim .upc .val .dsd .cfg to keep in pace with with other changes done by those mods. The main changes are done to the .dat and .upc files

This MOD does the following:
Modifies files:
- Data\Objects\Conning_<Class>_01.dat
- Data\Objects\Conning_<Class>_02.dat
- Data\Objects\Conning_<Class>_03.dat
- Adds Sub ID Decal place holders for both sides
- Adds Sub Emblem Decal place holders both sides
- Adds Custom Battle Flag to display Kills
Modifies file Data\Submarine\NSS_<Class>\NSS_<Class>.dat
- Adds Sub ID place holders for Bow ID Decals both sides
- Adds Diesel Exhaust smoke effect.
- Fixes Propeller rotation if applicable.
Modifies file Data\Submarine\NSS_<Class>\NSS_<Class>.upc
- Added 12 Crew Bunks slots (Hogan's Alley) to Crew Managment.
These slots are populated when you start.
Crew members located in this area take less damage in combat but
provide no functionality while located here.
- NOTE: This change will not appear on saved games that were created prior to installing this mod change.
Modifies file Data\Submarine\NSS_Sargo\NSS_Sargo.cfg
- All Depth settings adjusted
These changes do not effect actual crush depth but
they do effect dive plane angle when diving.
- Foreward speeds may be adjusted for fuel economy.
Adds required sample images in Data\Textures\TNormal\tex
- NSS_<Class>TowerID_POS1.tga - NSS_<Class>TowerID_POS3.tga
- NSS_<Class>BowID_POS1.tga - NSS_<Class>BowID_POS3.tga
- NSS_<Class>_BattleFLG.tga
- NSS_<Class>TowerEmblem.tga
- TowerID_0.tga - TowerID_9.tga
Provides DO.BAT Batch Script to generate users desired images.
- DO.BAT is located in the Support folder along with this readme.txt file.
- The Do.BAT must be executed in the Support directory of this mod.
DO.BAT expects command line parameters to function properly.
- Do.BAT can be used from "Start", "Run" after MOD is enabled/installed.
e.g. "C:\Games\SilentHunter\Support\do.bat" NSS_Porpoise 1 7 4 SS-174_BattleFLG.tga SS-174_Emblem.tga
C:\Games\SilentHunter is my SH4 parent directory. Support folder is created in
the SH4 folder when you enable this MOD.
NSS_Sargo 1 9 0 = the required command line parameters passed to DO.BAT
NOTE: The quotes around "C:\Games\SilentHunter\Support\do.bat" are required.
- Open CMD window: Click "Start", "Run". Enter "CMD /F:ON"
In the CMD window type "CD <Full Path to Your SH4 MODS>\<This Mod Name>\Support"
- NOTE: CTRL-D auto-completes Directory Names and CTRL-F does filenames.
Type "DO.BAT NSS_Sargo X X X" where "X"'s are your desired ship ID number.
I havent written a Batch file for like 15 years, its not perfect but it works.
Screen Captures included for examples.
Known Issues:
- At night the Bow ship ID numbers bright flouresent effect.
Not sure how to resolve this...
This does not effect enemy ability to detect you.
Cost Analysis:
Edit <Tower>.dat, Time 30 min, Cost $125.00
Edit <Hull>.dat, Time 30 min, Cost $125.00
Create Sample images, Time 10 min, Cost $42.00
Create DO.BAT, TIME 30 min, Cost $125.00
Testing above item, Time 5 min, Cost overhead
Eye Candy, Time Endless. Cost Priceless

Please Give me Some feedback on this mod!

Thought I'd dig this thread up; here goes:

I've got this installed while in port, and I've taken Searaven for a spin. Not a bad-looking thing, but she's configured as Sculpin and my crew wouldn't appreciate that.

Basically, I need to remove the Sculpin lettering and logo, the flag flying from the sail and change the number on the bow. Anyone care to talk me through this so that I can make Searaven look more like she should? The diesel smoke is a great-looking effect and I'd really like to use the mod, but my command prompt-fu ain't what it used to be.

I provided a batch script in the Support folder. The README.TXT tells how to use it and the script has some self help you can get just by running DO.BAT with no command line parameters.
The DO.BAT can change the numbers, logo and flag.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Beast, thanks for the fast reply. This thing really does look good.

I took a gamble or two and have managed to generate '196' for both the sail and bow. The six NSS_SargoBowID and NSS_SargoTowerID textures have been generated properly, were installed manually and display in the game properly. The default Sculpin flag and sail image were generated but I didn't manually move those to ...Data\Textures\TNormal\tex, so the sail doesn't have its logo and the flag is gray, as I thought might happen.

The only thing I need to figure out now is whether the flag can be removed entirely. Is this something that an end user like myself can do? By the way, I appreciate you building that help into the batch file; it was useful. As I understand it, since I did this while in port during an existing career, I'll not have the added crew spaces, correct?

The flag can be removed. I am planning to release a update that does not have the Flag since several people asked for it to be removed.

The DO.BAT is able to change Tower and Bow numbers, Tower Logo/Emblem and Flag textures.
Type the following:
DO.BAT 1 9 6 FlagImageName.tga EmblemImageName.tga
Make sure to use a space between each number and each file name.
The Emblem size is 128 pixel X 128 pixel. The image will resize linear to fit if not that size.

The added crew will only show on a new career.

Beast:

OK, thanks for explaining the syntax of the command again. I was trying to get the sail and bow numbers alone, since I don't appear to have an appropriate logo for the sail and was trying to get the flag to go away.

I'll eagerly await your release of the no flag variant. Thanks for your help!
