[WIP] Atlantic water
Hi,
as it bothered for long enough now, I was going to adjust the parameters for the water shaders to make them fit the Atlantic/Northern Sea scenario more. In particular that means the color of the water as well as the transparency. I'm aiming for the end of this week to get it finished but testing it under all sorts of weather conditions and so forth could take a bit longer. I'm going to post my intermediate results here. Insights are welcome. Regards, i. |

If you mean the transparency of the water when viewed from above, then yes, it's completely unrealistic. As it is now, Mid-Atlantic water looks as clear as near a Pacific atoll. I am inept at working with shaders myself, so I can only wait until it gets modded right. Good luck with it!

And one more thing... When the weather is really bad, raining or foggy... clouds ar heavy and gray dark... water is too bright these reflections... in my opinion of course :)

First report back:
so far, a very quick and simple change just restores the original water clarity while preserving the awesome shine, glossiness and color that Real Environment brings and looks like this: (please ignore the white rectangle, that has nothing to do with the mod ;)) http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1213/ul1.png http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8112/ul2.png Now, having said this I have to admit that I'm a bit clueless what would be realistic for the atlantic theatre. But the game's default water transparency fits my taste quite well. The underwater view is uneffected by this, btw. |
