SH3 + GWX praise

The best sub game, ever. (Well of course SH4/5's graphics are better but functionality? I don't need to buy a new computer to run GWX for the same thing)

Yay or nay!

I heard there's a GWX4?

If so, I know where all my evening time is going to go...

Work commenced on GWX4 last year but has been shelved indefinitely I'm afraid. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

No worries there, I think its (almost) perfect as it is. Does GWX has a www.moddb.com page? Definitely deserves mention there as one of the greatest simulation mods out there. (and there are only a few successful sim-mods globally)

I emphasize that!

I've always had a very high regard for SH3, even stock. I don't really know what took me so long to get GWX - I think finally signing up here instead of lurking persuaded me to make the jump as nearly every other person was mentioning or discussing the mod. As far as I'm concerned, GWX has turned a great game into an almost perfect game and I commend everyone that has contributed to the creation of an awesome community mod.

Thank You.

While I'm a hardcore SH3\GWX3 player.

I'd like to applaud and thank the guys over at the SH4\ATO area for all their hard work too. :salute:

Greatest subsim of all time, for me, still is Aces of the Deep.

And when I say greatest, I am referring to how much fun I had playing it and how engrossed I was. It was the one that got me hooked on the genre. In close second is SSIs Silent Hunter.

Have you tried WAC? LSH3? I'm not saying they're better, and I love GWX, but hearing that it's the end all/be all of submarine gaming gets old.

Also, are you using SH3 Commander? If not, then you haven't even begun to experience the possibilities.

The thing I didn't like about Aces of the Deep, and I think it was after a patch, was that Time Acceleration would quit working. 4x or 8x would be all it would go to. That's when I got fed up and quit playing it. Most likely, it was the introduction of the wolf packs that caused the Time Acceleration capping.

Think my favorite Sub game was Red Storm Rising... even though it was more of an arcade sub game than a pure sim one. I think I just liked watching the map change colors that represented dynamic type fighting.

Jimbuna 02-16-10 04:34 PM

Ah...Red Storm Rising...now that brings back a lot of fond memories :yeah:

Wow I just realized my dad has a poster of "Aces of the Deep" in our basement..

Now I realize he was a gaming nerd before me, eh?
