Just a quick question?
I know that it ends up being all my choice in the end.
But Now that I have Window 7 Allowing me to use all the mods that All of you so graciously provided and I might add are awesome. What are the pros and cons. I have loaded Fleetboat for 1.4 and tried it and its great I have loaded Trigger Maru for 1.4 and tried it and its great I have loaded Operation Monsoon 705 and 705-720 and I dont know what is different I have added Pacific Enviornment 4 I have added and it makes the water look awesome. So What should I be looking for what would be the best options, I want to hear some setups that work for other people. There are so many mods I think that I have redundant or disabling mods. It all works great I just want to hear some other complete mod setups and load them save them and then try them one at a time . Thanks, I think there are alot of us newer hunters that want to know what the vets are running. and why? Thanks Again, IRISH4life I would put photos in my posts but I don't know how. |
The Enviroment mods have been a work of progress. There were others, but PE4, Enviroment 5 and New Real Enviroment are the latest. PE4 is oldest, New Real being the newest.
Most Supermods like TMO already include one of these enviroment mods. TMO uses Env. 5 that is tweaked. Those that make the supermods frown on running other enviroment mods on top of their mods. Enviroment mods can effect many settings and to use one may disrupt aspects of the supermod itself, so it's usually best to not run enviroment mods over supermods. There are many smaller mods that will work fine with supermods. The makers of supermods simply aren't going to try each one out, so it's use at your own risk. As always you want to use mods stated to work with the supermod, but that's still a risk, so backup and pay attention to each mod. If a mod doesn't state what other mods it works with, don't load it. Most have readmes stating what it works with, but some don't. Your biggest problem is using 1.4. You're limited to old mods that aren't supported by the mod makers. If you want to take advantage of the new mods today, you need ver. 1.5..it's so cheap it's worth it. Each has to decide on what mod suits them. I've played TMO with RSRD for over a year. I've tried numerous smaller mods, some work, some I've had mod soup. Always keep backups of a clean Data folder backed up. I like the setup I have now. I do multiinstalls of the game and have seperate folders for each mod setup, but here is what I run for TMO. TriggerMaru_Overhaul_19 TMO19_Patch_25012010 RSRDC TMO 502 RSRDC V5xx Patch1 TMO19_interior3d_GATO_overhaul As far as I know the mods above are approved by the maker of TMO. The rest he will say use at your own risk. Here are other smaller mods I run. Map Colour Original with terrain Map Labels 1.3 PE4 Lifeboat and Debris sh4lighthousemod TGT AOB TO PK FIX - TMO TGT DIALS TO PK FIX - TMO merchant skinpack release Shell splash mod TMO_Stock_Gramaphone 3000 Yard-Meter Bearing Tools (1280x960) SS220 USS Barb_FooBor's hi-res Gato - Weathered Ship pack 1 EAX_sound_sim_without_Websters_Maneuver_SonarFix SCAF for TMO 1.9 BETA I have run Real Env with TMO1.9 and I can't tell it effects it, but not running it currently. I mostly like Real Env because the aircraft relections mod works much better with it. NEW Real Environment mod Lite_fog_ V2+Slow_water Aircraft_reflections However, you're limited to 1.4 mods. I think there is a sticky in the mods sections that work with 1.4. Seems I ran PE4 over the 1.4 ver of TMO fine. Don't play OM... |
Thanks for you time.
I appreciate your response. I was think of changing to 1.5 but was afraid that it would change the whole game for me. Does 1.5 just add subs and graphics? or is it a whole new game change.
I was just looking at completing the campaign for 1.4 then add 1.5 and complete that campaign or does it not work that way? maybe 1.5 is only additional missions????? I just don't know enough and don't have enough time in the day to read all the forums. Thanks for your help. I will try your suggestions and may just upgrade to 1.5. IRISH4life |
Installs that people like!
Please post your install sequences with major mods and smaller mods that work for people.
I apreciate the information as I am sure that other subsim players do as well since there are millions of combinations. This simplifes life and gives most a direction to start their experimentation of mods. Find what works and the work from there is what I say and if many of you have something that works let us know. It changes for the better...Graphics just improve, simply theres more mods that add eye candy.
You may want to add skins to you boat.....With 1.5 you have a lot more ships to deal with, some are very mean. For reality the TMO interiors 3d are great. Obvious a good video card with the right settings really improve things. Finish your 1.4 campaign, then you may want to step up to 1.5. I think someone has a thread in the mod forum on mods that work with 1.4 http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/u...ersubawash.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/u...010511_718.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/u...2637_937-1.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/u...002618_718.jpg |
Listed Below is a list of files for the SHIV 1.4 and where to get them is there a list just like this for 1.5 with the correct sequence. THANKS TO BEARTOOTH91! If so please attach the link to the thread, if there is one.
YOU SOLD ME! I am upgrading to 1.5 tomorrow. That just means more downloading for me but It seems that the results will be well worth the time adding mods. My system should be able to handle the graphics Intel Core 2 quad Q6600 2.4 GHZ 4 g of RAM GeForce NVidia 8800 GT 512 mb Windows 7 64 bit Sound Blaster Audigy zs2 Found all of this information by another author I just cut and pasted the info for others and myself. If there is not a setup list like this could someone who is using, created, suggesting options for correct install sequence along with extra mods etc. Thanks, IRISH4life Stock 1.4 game with Run Silent Run Deep - The Campaign: RSRDC_V350_for_V14 --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi..._for_14;106055 RSRDC_V350_Patch1 --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...or_v350;106057 RSRDC_SH4V14_CTDFIX --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...top_Fix;106051 Trigger Maru, Trigger Maru Overhauled w/ RSRDC (optional): REL_TriggerMaru_Overhaul --D/L Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OKA4IYO9 -OR- 1_TMaru_Trigger_Maru_1.7.6 --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...aru_176;106067 RSRDC_TMOv14_V370 --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...ampaign;106047 RSRDC_V370_Patch1 --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...or_v370;106049 RSRDC_SH4V14_CTDFIX --D/L Link: http://silenthunter.filefront.com/fi...top_Fix;106051 Note that TM-1.7.6 or the original TMO (for 1.4) will work with RSRDC V370. Armistead, that's a fine screenshot there, the top one.

Yeah man, great shot of the flat top on the way to turning turtle. :yeah:

POST YOUR MOD Setups. Give us Newbies what you elders are running. You dont need to provide the links just the mods in the order that works for you? If you are willing.
Thanks, IRISH4life |

ARMISTEAD,
So you are running the SH IV 1.5 with TMO 1.9 (like I said I am switching tomm). Are there any negatives to the newer upgrade TMO's ( I was reading a post that said that some of the stuff that was in the 1.4 versions of TMO were nice but not in the versions for SHIV 1.5. I would hate to lose some of the "TRUE AWESOMENESS" of the sim. The screen shots you are dropping are all from these mods? Awesome! What are your graphics settings? Anything special? |
With TMO1.9 you won't lose anything but gain much.
The only negative with 1.9 is much more deadly escorts and that is not really a negative. 1.9 is a very challenging mod. I have run SH4 1.5 with a verity of mods, depends on how I feel like playing at a particular time. TMO 1.9 and related patches. (don't run environmental mods with TMO) I don't have this loaded up at the moment so don't have my complete mod list. Still trying to finish my TMO1.63 career first. With and without RSRD. (More realistic ship and convoy traffic and all the real navel engagements). Ship Centered Accuracy Fix (easier manual targeting for the non 100% times) Maxoptics with SCAF (like the larger periscope) Most of Websters mods work well with TMO (better air patrols etc.) Mods are like going to a fine restaurant, everybody orders something different and the next time you go you may order something different. You just have to try things out and see what you like and how you want to play the game, again everybody is different. I've played at 100% realism and at other times at a little lower setting just for fun, didn't find 100% all that much fun. Right now I'm playing at a somewhat easy setting and enjoying it. You can run two or more installs and put together different mods to suite how you feel at the time. MultiSH4 is the mod for this. Aremistead is using TMO 1.9 and has a pretty stout machine and he is also very good at screen shots, wish I had his good eye. Magic |

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...128517&page=23 You don't lose anything by upgrading to 1.4. You get added fixes and all the newer mods work with 1.5. TMO 1.9 has added features, you don't lose a thing and much better than the ver of TMO for 1.4. Just don't run PE4 over it. PE4 as much as you like it is an older Env mod. Env 5 is much better overall and tweaked to go with TMO. Most of my SS come from this mod set up, although I do run other mods at times. Time of day and other effects make better SS's, I certainly have taken crappy ones. I love the EAX sound sim with Pouls sounds...Just load it, you'll see. Make you jump out of your chair when a shell goes by. Also love the radio stations by Fred. I've about got a single hard drive just for radio stations, but nothing like listening to the war as it really happened and all the entertainment shows. I go for realism. I want the game as close to real as I can get. I usually play with cams and contacts off, which makes it fairly real. You lose the cam, but it's really a cheat cam. Nothing like being stuck in your sub during battle, but takes time to learn to track and set up attacks. I just alter as I have time, because I do like eye candy. I wouldn't play without RSRD..Nothing like getting in the middle of historical battles and watching the surface fleets fight it out, planes in the air, can get intense, plus attacking 50 ship convoys can be a lot of fun. Nothing like battles in storms, having to shoot using sonar and radar. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/2931074728 Here I came back to Subic bay and Jap planes were attacking as I pulled into port..Fairly old, not sure what video card, but still good SS's. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/3321000087 And the famous Allied plane attack on Rabaul...although my story at the end got me in trouble and had to replace it with the edited verion, but I'm always picking on nohunt. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...867#4531074867 |
Love that story in your last link, class !
