well if "gold" is based on sales it will probably require some fuzzy math to get there but if its just another name to call the collectors edition it could be soon. i think there was a thread saying it was listed somewhere for preorder

Usually, a game is deemed to have 'Gone Gold' when the final master copy has been produced and sent off for replication, packing and shipment. Typically, this will be around 2 to 3 weeks before it begins appearing in the stores or being available for on-line shipping.

So I would guess 10 days to two weeks from now.

I think the term comes from the practice in days gone by of recordable CDs being manufactured with gold film. So the gold colored CD was actually the source.

In the recording industry 'Going Gold' meant selling a million copies of your song. This predates the invention of the CD by almost thirty years.

+1 ...from "gone gold" to "hit the shelves" - at least two weeks.

I suspect the color to be black, instead of gold:D

Not sure. Seeing new ingame footage with a new take on this type of game I'm looking forward to it! Looks like more interaction than we have experienced in the past.
