introduction and a question
Hello all, Joe Bob here. Believe it or not I played AoD for years but have just now tried SH3. WOW!
I'm on my first career and I am already a record setting captain. Records include: Most times on record being run over by ships while at periscope depth, (I am now made to pay out of my own pocket for any 20 mm guns that get scraped off the boat.) Longest time recorded stalking a ship thats already been sunk(scraping the bottom) Most creative way to ruin a good patrol. (run into the slip while docking by hitting the 5 key instead of the 6 key) Rumor has it the only reason I have not been sacked is the fear that I may not be able to pay off my extensive bar tab at the officers club if I am let go. Anyway, most of my questions have been answered by reviewing the forums. One question I do have though is about efficiency. If I have a solid green efficiency bar in at a crew station with less than maximum crew is there an advantage in adding further crew members. I am specifically thinking of the engine and lookout positions. I would think it might help with fatigue but I am not sure I am using the stock SH3 Thanks for having me, JB |
Welcome Joe BoB!
For your question, It depends on what the station is doing, is what I noticed. As in, if it is one of the torpedo loading stations, more crewmen (from what I have studied when I have long, arduous patrols) means faster reloading. The fatigue system is extremely picky. I suggest getting GWX 3.0 gold when you can, and installing SH3 commander. In commander, you can set the fatigue system to either 2X slower fatigue or no fatigue at all. |

Just between you and me, I recently caught my crew trying to paint "Scheisse Happens" on the back of the conning tower. Cheeky devils. Oh and welcome aboard. :salute: |
Welcome aboard Joe Bob.
Your records made me laugh :DL |

Welcome aboard Joe Bob,
Interesting record you have. Funny you mention that. I wonder if you were following me on my first patrol and happen to be taking notes. I have done a lot of the same things you have. The first patrol is the hardest patrol. Learning comes at a price. Tweety |
welcome, JoeBob!

Welcome to the flotilla and enjoy.

I've ramed the docks a few times. Once I nearly lost the boat to flooding in port as I ramed the end of the sub pen at ahead full; caused a hell of a mess in the torpido room that.
Geting rammed at parascope depth isn't all bad eather, I have been given credit for sinking distroyers twice by having them ram me. It is a good way to concerve ammo if you realy think about it. As for crew maning stations, most of them don't seem to be effected by the numbers. Torpido loading seems to be the exception, more men there will cut the load times signifigantly, especialy if you have torpido sepcialists or an officer maning the station. When it comes to engin stations I haven't noticed any effeicancy gains by having more than the requisit crew maning the station. I personly got fed up with the whole endurcance system and turned the whole thing off by editing the config files of the game; I couldn't get SH3 Commander to do it for me for some reason. |
