Back to the future with Silent Hunter 3
 

Hi to all of you on the SH3 forums -

As you may be aware if yo've taken even the most fleeting look at the SH5 Forum you will know there is mass dissapointment with the upcoming offering

As such I wonder if it might be time for the SH# forum and its modders to get ready for an influx of renewed interest in SH3 once Sh5 is released.

I myself am curious to know if the work on the other rooms has been finished following the open hatch mod and also if IAMBECOMELIFE ever got his additioanl merchants mod to work

I, for one, have not liked anything that I have seen or heard about SHV, execept for the ability to move around the U-boat. I was so excited for it, too.

No matter, though – flakmonkey is finishing up his diesel room mod, which is a big step in the direction of being able to move around the whole submarine, which was the one interesting thing SHV could do that SHIII could not. I see no reason to get SHV, especially with this stupid anti-piracy system UBI has set up. I may not always have an internet connection while sailing my U-boat on my Macbook. I shouldn't have to suffer for it, though.

That's just stupid.

I will likely buy it from a bargain bin or second-hand, once I'm sure that modders have had their way with it for at least a year and they've gotten rid of the stupid anti-piracy thing. If not, well, I'm plenty happy with SHIII.

I've been stomping and yelling in the SHV forum. Ubi seems to stick to its stupid DRM/OSP privacy intrusion. I expect to return here and duke it out with the RN. Balz says he's coming, too. :D

Thanks fo rthis is good news, I wonder if you are aware of any divelopments with IAMBECOMELIFE's merchant ships mod. This was asupurb package of skins for virtually the entire merchent fleet but it had problems when it was first released

Its quite sad whats happened with sh5, i think the devs are all quite big subsimmers and were probably looking forward to some good reactions to all their hard work when some tw*t in a suit came along and said "oh yeah were going to add this new DRM system to your game, dont worry it`ll be really popular"

Ubi will hate me for this but i think i`ll buy sh5 just to "borrow" resources from it to use in sh3.
That`ll be about as popular with ubi`s lawyers as DRM is with everyone else!

I would lol if a UBI lawyer actually read this... But they don't of course. We know that only the devs read this.
