Strange Task Force
Just found a task force of about 100 Asashio destroyers.:06:. About 200 miles north of Marianas its Jan. 8 1944 and i'm runnin FOTRS. Only picking up 4 radar contacts.

Have fun...sounds like a bug me, but could be interesting.

Sounds like a typo in the quanity box in the mssion editor. I wonder if that is my typo. :O:

You should sneak into the middle of it then make a bunch of noise. Watch them all crash into each other trying to get you. See how many you can "sink" without firing a shot. This could be fun!
... off to the mission editor...:D |
I shadowed for about 2 hours before game crashed

Ya forgot to add one Zero after the 100? :stare: |
Wow the same thing JUST now happened to me. I went to exterior view and just kept scrolling for what seemed like 20 miles. Destroyers upon destroyers. I was about 4000 yards away when the bulk of them passed, and my game crashed soon afterwards as well.

:hmmm: Could this be some kind of Matrix Revolutions Mr. Smith taking over SH4 turning all ships into Destroyers just to sink you. If you get a Radio Flash message "I know where you are Mr. Anderson" RUN :o |

And extra depth charges for all! |

phew, glad to read that others are having this problem... It seemed to strike my game shortly after installing GFO, real env 1, and patch for real env 1. The other thing I noticed was that it was impossible, even after continuing well out of their area, to get above about x256 TC. It became impossibly slow and jittery. Also, saving the game took about 3 minutes of hd spinning madly and I got "crash to desktop" errors when exiting the game. |
I've run into this problem too, and not just in 1944. Last time it happened to me was in '42. First time it ever happened, I used the unit view and saw the biggest task force ever! 5 or 6 lanes of what I thought were cruisers and destroyers extending from horizon to horizon. All the other times I had this happen, I haven't been able to see the ships, but I know it's the same cause.
It doesn't do it everytime. In fact, I can start the same patrol all over again and it won't return. But when it does hit, that's about the only thing you can do is restart cause the time compression doesn't work past 128, and you just cannot get far enough away from the ships no matter how long you try. I don't use FOTRS, but I do have GFO. I wonder if there's a common mod in both that's causing this? |
I have experienced the same thing just to the north of Manya but I could only track 3 DD's on radar. From the Periscope view, the collum of 2 ships abreast continued out of site to the north with ships spaced about 1000-1500 yards apart moving at approx 18 knots.
My Game CTD shortly after detecting these DD's. -TheBeast |
It just happened to me again! After a complete reinstall on my brand new computer, my very first patrol off Japan in late December, 1941, it suddenly slowed to a crawl. It must've spawned another super TF or convoy somewhere. :damn:
I swear this problem never occurred before I started using GFO, so I'm going to try a campaign without it and see what happens. |
