Crysis 2 goes urban
No more lush green jungles, Crysis 2 is headed for NYC.
Crysis 2 Welcomes You To A New Jungle: New York City Not much else is known yet, sorry. |
Oh noes, does this mean that now that they take the main selling point out (the nice looking jungle) they actually have to come up with a good story this time? :haha::har:
|
They won't have to; now it can run on consoles. :shifty:
Those jungles required a lot of shader-power from the GPU, something a console doesn't have. But geometry (such as buildings) is "easy", particularly the PS3's Cell is well suited for this. |
Lol, well, I saw a vid of the first level from crysis in Cryengine 3 on conloses... LOOKS LIKE S***...:rotfl2: The lods are horriable...
But the PC version... Havent really heard anything from it... I myself knew about the city stuff awhile ago... Ya know, I liked crysis, It was a pretty good game, and for the graphics it had, ran pretty good. Story needed abit of work, and made you use abit of tatics... I hope they dont ruin the PC version... Edit! http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3238/ce3.jpg CE3 on console...LOL http://seriousnerd.files.wordpress.c...s_ingame_1.jpg Pc on Cryengine 2, sorry about size. |
What exactly made you think that an console version would look the same as PC version to begin with?

However, when Task Force uses a screengrab from a poorly optimised video (from the biggest Xbot on the planet, IGN) I can't help grating my teeth. It's not great and never will be on either console but the least we can do is post an actual render output: http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...__09032916.jpg For the record, Crysis is the biggest load of poop ever. The only thing is has going for it is eye candy and (admittedly) the good physics interaction. God help us if Crytek ever employ story writers. |

I liked the run and gun aspects of the game, but the moment the aliens showed up i started hating it (ironicly its the same with far cry and those critters).
Now I play until the aliens show up then consider it game over. |

Still, that console render has some horrible aliasing. :-?
I don't like shooters, but I like Crysis... untill the aliens show up. It's the stealth that makes it great for me; I'm a sucker for any stealth game. Nothing like taking out a 3 man patrol without using a bullet and without raising an alarm to make you feel like a badass. :D |
yea, I also liked how you could do the mission how you wanted, not a really scripted thing... EX you gotta go this way... gave it some replay value... IMO
|
Then the damn aliens show up, and the game goes totally down hill, and becomes really linear to boot. Does anyone actually like the aliens?
This was one the biggest complaint in Far Cry, when the mutant critters showed up. Not only did they not seem to learn that in crysis, but the expansion crysis warhead if i recall started with the aliens in your face. |
In all actuality, crysis storyline didnt have the leaving the ship part at all...
it was surspose to be... 1 go onto island and attack with main force behind you 2 find out about aliens and alli with kpa 3 distory alienship (or something along those lines...) and wala, done... But then someone scraped that story and said... well... lets do this. I will say, the aliens wiere a large letdown... and also the fact that they gave it all away within the first fiew minutes of the game was alot... (when your falling, look left, you will see one of em...) |
Yeah, but you won't look left if you don't know, and just seeing 1 "thing" doesn't give too much away imho. ;)
Stalking Koreans while using nanosuit is awesome. Blasting aliens with a shotgun... been there, done that. :-? |
