Anyone have problems with D2D activation?
I wanted to try TMO, so I installed a separate version of SH4, patched to 1.4 then bought, d/l and installed the U-boot addon (1.5) from D2D. Come time to run the game a window pops up asking for an activation code. The fields are already filled in so I click on online activation and I get 'invalid key.' Tried manual activation number, same result. So I contacted D2D 'support' and got a form email saying to drop firewall and run sh4.eve with admin credentials (Vista). Tried that several times, didn't work. Everytime I answer D2D support's email, or online ticket, I get another form email telling me do the same thing. Grrrrr!! :stare:

direct2drive - To the last, I grapple with thee
I just dealt with a similar situation. Loaded SH4 from DVD then loaded 1.5 U-Boat missions from D2D download after an XP re-install. Could not get a successful activation from the direct2drive portion. The solution was to contact Ubi support via email and have them add new "activations" to my U-Boat missions download. The process took a total of five days.
As someone in these forums has posted in their signature... just order the DVD next time. Can't say that I'm pleased with having to "ask for permission" just to re-install my game. All's well that ends well I suppose. It works fine now. |
You know, one of these days, if i can find the motivation to do it, i should take TMO 1.9, and make a SH4 1.4 compatible version of it. Doing so is either going to be, "not as hard as i thought", or "More work then i thought", the idea of finding out makes me wince.

You must be running Windows 7, known issue.

I've got the D2D version and have had no problems to date with it. I enter the activation key I got emailed to me and voila! I've also uninstalled and reinstalled quite a few time as well. But even so I'm thinking I'll want a hard copy sooner or later.:hmmm:

I had a similar problem. Wolves of the Pacific I had no issues, but when I tried activating U-boat missions I kept getting Error:unknown reason. And like mentioned below I emailed support and they re-activated my code on their server within a day of my request.

Well, I sifted through another email account and found the email from D2D with the key and it worked and in Win7! What's confusing and irritating is the registration window comes with the fields pre-filled with keys that don't work. :damn:

usually thats the code required to let it install and then to activate it you need to put in the activation code. its very strange but im guessing the instalation code sets it up with some sort of ID and tells it to accept the activation code because the activation code only works with the download that contains that instalation code. i have a few other programs and games that do that (some i have to enter the instalation code number and some do it automatic) but i dont know for certain why they do it but i guess its some type of extra copy protection. |
Everyone has trouble with D2D, it's a bloody useless activation system.

Problems with Direct 2 Drive? Yep, like ham and eggs!!
I've had the same trouble getting the "most recent" key to activate the game after a complete reinstall. I say "most recent" being the last one received through e-mail. Everytime I try to activate I receive a "Failure" message. This has happened at least twice, maybe three times (I've lost count). You correct it by contacting the support phone number and explain to the tech on the other side what's what. If you have a legitiment purchase, the tech will do some kind of majic on his side and you'll be soon good to go. I suspect there's a time stamp on when you last activated your download. After a number of months the activation key must be disabled on their end. The only way you'll restart the activation process is by having tech support reset the activation procedure to enable the acceptance of the key. It took just a few minutes one time, overnight on another, to have them "flip the switch". |
Am I seeing things or there is a chick posting in this thread? Man! This forum is getting better and better.
