Is Silent Hunter 5 requires Internet Connection and can we play without the DVD ?

But, is that the games are UBISOFT still need 1 connection ?

it's safe to asume you will need the DVD and you won't need to connect to the internet. someone will be able to confirm this once the game is released.

SH5 n'est pas encore sortie, donc personne ici ne le sait. Et je crois pas non plus que c'est décidé si SH5 sera jouable sans le DVD comme SH4 l'était après le troisième patch. Peut-être que l'on fait la même chose, mais personne ne le sait.

1st you will have to buy the initial allowance to play the game,
2nd you may then buy the game, but pay a monthly fee for using,
3rd it will install Starforce Mk XVIII on your PC which will install itself in the eproms of your motherboard and can never be deleted again,
4th you will pay for every upgrade like snorkel, decoys, special torpedos etc.,
5th certainly also pay for every other type of U-boat,
(5 1/2 for another face of your captain's avatar)
6th you need a permanent physical direct line connection to the Moscow KGB server, or maybe to Beijing,
7th you will certainly be online all the time, but especially when you are doing online banking with your PC.

Ahem.

Maybe this gives the Devs some ideas to think of next :rotfl2:,
the WW1 sim "Rise Of Flight" is already heading in this direction :nope:

What i really think is some kind of short online check every now and then, like in SHIV - anything of the points mentioned above and they will lose me as a customer - however i sure think they will use more usual and contemporary methods :up:

you actually rent those with "virtual renown"... 1$ = 500 VR.

200 VR to have the snorkel for 14 days, 400vr to have it for 30 days...

None of the previous Silent Hunters required an internet connection to play, so I'm sure this one won't either. And if it does they'll lose a customer.

Silent Hunter 4 was patched to remove the CD requirement. We won't know until the game is actually released, but based on that I'm guessing this one won't need the CD in the drive to play it.

it took me a minute to realize what he was asking too but some games are are internet play only (there is no offline vs the computer side of the game) so its a reasonable concern that hasnt been directly asked AFAIK even thou the silent hunter series has never done anything like that with their games thank goodness.

As long as your internet connection supports 1024x768 with no Anti Aliassing, it should be fine for playing SH5. At least, until 'patch' 1.5 is released. Who knows what crazy graphical features it will support after that!?

Dig, dig, dig. OMG But Yeah. This is a modern game, not one made in the dark ages, like SH4, so hopefully it will have AA out of the box - like... a modern game? Hopefully! And let's hope it isn't fixed res either for the first patch iterations up to the last 'patch' which you had to pay for.

Perhaps the OP is wondering whether SH5 will be like RoF which requires an online connection to run?

A feature so loved by RoF players that it will be removed from singleplayer in an upcoming patch.:rotfl2:
