Red supply ships with no flag in GWX

Can someone please explain what these are? They have two bright lights, painted red, and have no flag. I think they're supply ships.

Am I correct that in the fall of 1939 my only options for fuel and torpedos without heading back to Kiel where I'm stationed are Belchen off Greenland and Corrientes off Los Palmas?

I've been getting by on fuel by keeping speed to 6 knots on the surface (hardly burns any at that speed assuming normal propulsion), but what options are there for more fuel or torpedoes if necessary? Are there other ports I can use besides Kiel (home port) or these supply ships?

Thanks!

I don't know what those shps are, but I don't think they are supply ships for your use. I have come accross a few of these and they always seem to have been with other British ships. The supply ships and subs are marked on your map as dots like cities and ports except they are in the middle of the ocian. These ships though I think are some kind of bug or a ship that didn't get coded right or some thing elce I don't understand.

As for picking up more torpidos you can get them at any of those supply ships marked on your map.

They are beacon ships marking shallow water and are classed as environmental objects so you can't sink them.

Ah, nice. Thanks for that info!

Technically they're called 'Lightships', and they were made to do the work of lighthouses. Your crew can't even see them, which is why each one has a tugboat close by to act as a tender. When your crew calls out "Ship spotted" they're seeing the tender and not the lightship itself.
