GWX without 1.4 patch
 

A quick question to you all- is it possible to install GWX without patching to 1.4 first? Just wondering, hah, my windows seven stops me from patching :cry:

No, it is not possible. For GWX 3.0 you need a "clean" SH3 1.4 installation! Please read Page 34 from the GWX Manual for further information!

Maybe a better question would be; How to patch 1.4b in Win7?

I recall someone saying some thing about the patcher some times having a bit of a bug that causes it to say "1.3" when it realy means "1.4". If this is what you are acutaly experiancing then all hsould be well and you are actualy updated to 1.4. Byond that I can't be of much help, I use the steam version of the game and that is self patching.

No, patch 1.4 and 1.4b are the same ! In the right lower corner of the SH3 Start-Menu must be 1.4 show. Then it is properly installed.

I don't know what you are talking about with this 1.4 and 1.4b business. I was talking about the patcher that takes the game from 1.3 to 1.4 and the typo that it some times has, or so I am told.

You are correct and answered as such in #5.....1.4 and 1.4b are the same but a typo makes it read out as '1.3' http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

@ Kimmers: If it won't let you patch it at all, it's likely a newer version that comes already patched. This version also lets you play without the disc in the drive.

As was said, look at the lower right-hand corner of the loading screen. If it says '1.4' you're good to go.

if you have a fresh, unmodified install and GWX installs, it is patched to 1.4b.

No worries, I was just trying to sort out what is going on to see if I couldn't help out or clarify the situation for someone that knows the awnser if I don't.
