Great thread!

Question; How is this graphics setting possible? I cannot get near that kind of amazing graphics on my new computer? :damn:

I saw that one too, it's stunning. Could have been used as one of those publicity shots by Ubisoft to promote the game.

Most supermods have reworked graphics or you can choose a stand alone mod that improves graphics..we call them enviroment mods.

The newest one out is Real Enviroment.

So, it's not your PC, I take it your playing stock with the crappy graphics. Obvious a good video card helps, so you can max out settings. Waves and foam look better, just overall quality is much better. The inside of your sub looks almost real..so start loading some mods. Heres a few shots using TMO which uses Env5 and the bottom two are Real Env.

Env mods also correct the sun and moon size, just overall better sky colors and reflection

Nice Shots Armistead I like the lightning in the first one, have not seen that yet while playing. (have not seen the Dutchman either) And the last one WOW

Times getting really short, its worth a look at least, some really nice Screen shots.

Armistead 12-31-09 12:56 AM

Strange about lightning. I played for a long time and never saw it. I think someone said you may see it in single player, but I never saw it in campaign mode and ran the same mods forever. Many modders have tried to get lightning to work right in campaign mode, just no one has. But I noticed it shows up in two places in campaign mode and I've never seen it anywhere esle. I started a new career many times and look and look, but can still only find it those two places and it can't yet be raining.

Course it's hard to SS, cuz it just last a second. I bet I tried a hundred times to get it and only by having my hand on the pause button...I did take a long Fraps video of it and will post it later. Cool watching a lot of lightning, seems it comes in several sizes.

Have you tried the sky env mod yet. It gives you 4 different choices.

Great shots yourself, nice glare reflections. I haven't added real env to TMO 1.9 yet, but I like glare shots of real env a lot. I can tell a little difference. I take it your glare shots are TMO1.9 without real env. I'll try to post some real env glare shots so we can compare. Course 1.9 uses Env 5 and Duc tweaked it some. I still prefer real env, but not sure if it messes up the sensor settings or not. I noticed my SS's with 1.9 when the sub is just going under to periscope depth the cable wires really have an odd glare, just too much highlight.

And i've played over a year and haven't seen the Dutchman either...then some new player will come in with SS his first patrol of it....

G2B 12-31-09 08:30 PM

Yep just running TMO 1.9 without any env. mods, bit nervous about it since Duc warned it could affect the sensor ranges, Although I did try PE 4  a while back.

I have not noticed the wire issue when submerging, but I'll look for it.

I'll post up my specs and mods a bit later time to go :()1: :woot::woot::()1:

The Sound Card I just put in just adds that much more, I never though it would make much difference but when your on the bridge and you can hear
water lapping over your shoulder, and the engines thrumming along, waves crashing over the bow  I think I need to install some type of mister for the full effect.

Ducimus has really put together one AMAZING mod.

cazorp 01-01-10 11:02 PM

Ok, I am now officially sold on the mod-stuff.

What should I do? I bought the original game many years ago, only goes to patch up to v.1,4 if I am correct?

To get v.1.5 - I need to buy SHIV Gold? and most mods are made for v.1.5 or can I go with the mods anyway?

Task Force 01-01-10 11:05 PM

1.5 comes with the U boat add on...

most mods now are for 1.5...

Armistead 01-01-10 11:21 PM

They're are still several mods that work with 1.4..I think TMO 162, but you would have to check them out.

Armistead 01-01-10 11:27 PM

G2B, add the EAX sound sim....I love it.

That was a great shot and I think got several votes. I really like the top one best in your other shots. Don't think you entered that one.

I love glare shots, I don't enter many because I like lot's of stuff in mine and you have to get that right angle for the glare, but when you do them right, they sure look good..and you do em right.

G2B 01-02-10 01:03 AM

Just DL'd EAX sound :salute:

Thanks Armistead :DL

I like allot of stuff going on in the glare shots as well, but they are allot more difficult, for some reason the Japanese ships never want to show up at sunrise or sunset, Camera shy I guess :hmmm:

Here's one of Stock SH4 for those of us who have forgotten and those who may want to compare ;)

If you can find the disc copy gold edition relatively inexpensive
if not just read the mod read me to make sure it is 1.4 compatible.
