Merry Christmas to all my Subsim friends and enemies. You may not believe in Jesus but I still wish you the very best in the coming new year.

Weiss Pinguin 12-24-09 10:25 AM

Happy Christmas Day, you who are several timezones before us! :woot:

Ironically enough in its own right (in the sense of it being incorporated into what is generally considered by people to be a "Christian" holiday), "Yule" refers to the Scandinavian Pagan ritual of hosting a winter festival and feast every year immediately after the solstice took place, ending a short time after January began. For that matter, December 25th has long been held as a time for worshiping sun gods throughout various religions, including Sol, Elah-Gabal, and Mithra (who is essentially a parallel of Jesus deriving his roots in Persia and the Roman Empire 600 years before the time of Jesus and the apostles). Just some fun facts.

And happy holidays.:salute:

There is a yule log as well.

We humans do some of the strangest things.

In traditional British rural culture, the Yule log was not only seen as a magical protective amulet, and there are many reports of rivalries occurring between members of a community as to who had the largest log.
