Cap Ship Texs

Searched for this and thougt about posting in the nvidia forum but didn't see anything similar.

The BBs have no textures. They are black. All other ships have normal textures and the sim runs fine. In fact I love this sim, the immersion is great.

Any help? Thanks

By the way, hello!

There is a fix for this, but I don't remember what it is.

Hang tight, though. Help is on the way.:sunny:

more info needed

what mods are you using

what game version are you using

what specific ships are blacked out

miner1436 12-23-09 10:51 PM

I had that error many times, it usually goes away with a new install though.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry I should have included game info. Am running the stock downloaded version updated to 1.4 with no mods. 2.4ghz P$, 2GB, 7300GT.

Only Battleships are black. Have noticed no other problems.

that kinda looks ok up till the 7300 :hmmm:, i had the same computer setup but with a 7600GS with 256mb onboard ram and had really slow fps

not sure what the onboard ram is on that card but sh4 is probably about the limit of whatmy 7600GS card could handle and its possible you could be getting some issues with it but that doesnt necessarily mean its caused this particular problem

i wouldnt suggest running sh4 on anything less than a 7600 but that doesnt mean a lesser card wont allow it to work

it may just not be able to handle it and it just cant render the images

definately make sure you look for any updated drivers you can find for it

is this the first time your running the game and having this issue? if it is the new install miner suggested may fix it, if not it might be your card

I don't think it may necessarily be the GFX card, as I was able to run SH4 on an nVidia GeForce 6150 with 15-20 or so FPS and no graphical problems. Then again something with the drivers may be off...

yep, thats why i think a 7600 is the minimum to get decent fps (as long as you keep the event cam turned off)

if you had uninstalled and reinstalled the game then it leaves behind any files changed by mods so it may have had leftover modded files that are corrupting things with the reinstall so uninstall the game then delete the leftover main directory folder then reinstall to fix it

It isn't the video card. I've seen a 6200 advertised as good for this game. Also I have no problems playing the game as I've tweaked the setting to what my pc can run. I get some lag when using time compression over say 2500 but other than that the sim runs well and looks good.

Also the install has no mods and never has. It is stock digitial download with 1.4 update and that is all. It is strange that only the Battleship textures won't work.

what is advertised as good for this game is a very big joke / lie

you can forget what ubi says about it and only go by what you have people who play the game tell you really works

have you updated your game to v1.4?

Welcome Gibbons,

Are they US BBs or Japanese BBs, or ALL BBs in the game? Try to identify which ones have the problem, may help with the solution. Things that may help.

1. Are you playing a Career or a Single Mission?
2. What year?
3. What ship, if you can determine what ship it is. Or if it is ALL of the BBs.
4. If you can't determine the specific ship, where are you and what is the date? Maybe we can check the files and see what ships are there. If it is a Single Mission, what is the name of it?
5. As mentioned above US or IJN? Or both?

I have seen the Iowa Battleship BLACK at certain times under certain conditions, but not always. But I have never seen any of the other BBs black. So as much info as possible may help.

I think I have only seen U.S. BBs so far so all U.S. BBs. Except the destroyed ones at Pearl. They appear with normal textures.

Running career in 1942.

ok so to clarify, you can "see" all US BB but the IJN BB are black?

Gibbons 12-29-09 05:07 PM

I figured it out, thanks.

No, he has only seen US BBs at all, so all of them are black, except the special models of the sunken PH ships.

@ Gibbons: Good job! Now please tell us how you did it.:sunny:
