Probably the fierce battle of the Tepoto Atol http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/16790.jpg. Or the Europa Moon, one big ocean where you never surface.

Just kidding. I think they mean the Mediteranean, Black Sea (not sure why, the NMS Delfinul was more than enough) and Gulf of Mexico. Think about it, those were very tough or long assignments and were reserved for the best kaleuns (or the ones which Hitler didn't like).

Perhaps engagement in non anticipated combat, early detection , suprise encounter etc en- route to pre designated patrol area, bears the resolve to unlock somewhat diffrent sequence of follow up events, ie aiding support to engagment somewhere near, picking up agent as closest sub, new patrol orders, or simply unlocks the captains room locker, waffle waffle, i fear its mere open speculation, indeed i do stand to be corrected, assumption is not my forte, iam affraid.

Here's what I hope, from a rivet counter bastard standpoint: I hope that they mean that if you've proven yourself as a top tier commander, they'll send you on missions such as Operation Drumbeat. That's what I hope. But if we have XBOX unlockable crap, I will rage. :shifty:

I don't like this unlocking idea at all, should be able to patrol anywhere anytime!!:-?

How poignant to quote a post from our illustrious host, from waaaay back in early May 2007 (full thread here)...

Damage model improved from SH4, now your sub will flash red and make a coughing sound when its health is in jeapordy. Don't worry about finding any unused sound files or interface files from SH3, SH4 on the disk--you won’t be able to access the disk. And no "A key" crash, at last the keyboard has been taken out of the equation. If you are unhappy with SH4's manual salvo set-up, rejoice, SH5 will allow you to launch all 20 torpedoes at once, simply press L2-R1-O-X-^-X. Cloaking and other combo moves can be unlocked by warping from one arena to the next, sinking 200,000 tons per mission.

Neal, it's becoming obvious that you are more in know than you let on. :hmmm:

:D

Maybe they mean you get the key to the executive washroom.

:D

Seriously though area unlocks? WTF? Is this a sim or a platform X-Box port?

The question I've got is around this statement:

the A.I. will adjust its reactions to the behavior of the player.
I'd be very interested to see what this means.

We should be able to go anywhere we want at any time...it's a sim...isn't it? :hmmm:

After catching a glimpse at the beta version I can give you a good idea. The system is very complex and includes many stages and possibilities. Apparently, if you stay surfaced, the escorts will engage you with their gun. But if you dive, it will only take them a few minutes to figure out that the guns are ineffective. SO, they'll circle around you and drop depth charges. If they miss, you'll love this part, they will adapt to the new situation and drop depth charges AGAIN. Amazing, I know...:o

What else would they do? Send down divers?

Maybe "to unlock and gain access to new Brothels" along the French coast - with each completed patrol... :woot:

Uber Gruber 12-08-09 08:33 AM

Are you kidding me ?!! For the love of Buddah they're not going to add that "unlock next level" crap to this type of game are they ? Do they do research on gamers and average gamer age ? I do not know of anyone....ANYONE... that thinks this feature unlock mechanism is in ANYWAY enjoyable.

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, a complete load of bollox!:nope:

That MUST mean the game will take into consideration your tonnage sunk and that you'll get access to the type IX later in the war. Of course this type will make you able to reach new patrol grids. :D

And I must say I agree with what Mookie has stated, BTW. :stare: :stare: :stare: :stare:

SteamWake 12-08-09 10:48 AM
