Farewell My Friend

My father passed away earlier today after a short illness.

It is not unusual that I remain active on the internet during the day of his passing because I know he took great pride in what he did for the war effort during the great conflict we call WWII.

He was always happy when I'd visit him and explain some of the respectful threads this community often posted for those of his generation.

He was especially pleased at the interest my friends here (and in particular Sailor Steve) took in his efforts during the period.

My father was never a boastful person but he always appreciated those of the post WWII generation who gave recognition to those who gave their all to ensure a safe world for the future.

I would ask that nobody mourns his loss but rather that they remember him and his kind for the sacrifices and risks they made for all of us.

This is not goodbye dad...simply till we meet again.

Love
Jimmy

Always sad, when someone close to us dissapears from the surface of the earth, but it's the destiny for all of us. At least, he had a long and - hopefully - good life.

My condolences. :salute:

My deepest condolences, Jim. What a loss this short before Christmas. IŽd recommend to take a shore leave. Everybody would understand, I reckon.

With sympathies,
DD

Sad to hear of your father's passing. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

I'm sure you will always remember what he did both for your country and yourself.

:salute:

My generation will never be able to repay his - I doubt my classmates & I could do what those young men did 65-70 years ago.:nope:

Here's hoping that the good memories of your time together help overcome the pain.
