i have run into "very large" groups playing the stock game or stock + GFO

once outside tokyo bay i found a super task force that must have had every ship in the jap navy

i also ran into a few task forces around the phillipines where they had about 15 to 20 ships but it never effected TC.

it is possible if your video card or computer is marginal or near marginal, maybe you didnt have the ability to TC because of those limitations.

I've had a mass group of allied ships sitting outside my home base before, and I do mean massive group, it was like the entire US navy had converged for a giant mash up.

The vanilla game in particular is quite prone to oddities like that.

With RSRD all the time. At the battle of Leyte I had the JP center force and the US Jeep Carrier force running from it. Add to that a squadron of about 60 planes in the air, probably about 120 contacts. It doe's slow my rig a little and mines fairly strong.

With RSRD you'll run into many large convoys of 50 ships or more. Trying to use much TC will really slow things down when you get a lot of contacts, cuz it has to deal with all that all ships are doing, so go easy on it.

Cut off as many background programs and services that you can..will help some.
