Uboat lost, what happened`

Hi guys, i recently started playing with the GWX 3.0 mod. I was sailing outside Scapa flow with full time acc. 1024x. Suddenly i heard a boom and water flowing, looked at my damage screen and saw that every compartment getting flooded, 3 min later i lost the boat.

What really happened here, no ships or enemy anywhere.

Probably you hit a mine, I think.

Robfox 11-29-09 08:24 AM

Mines!!?? there are mines??? hahha, that explains it. :)

Yep, definately a mine. Happend to me twice in my whole SH3 career. Annoying, but realistic.

I love it.

I remember I was doing a patrol off the east coast of England in a type II pretty soon after I installed GWX. I had event camera on and when I launched a torp at a unsuspecting merchant the screen came up and I watched my torp go streaking past a mine tethered about 10 feet below the surface just in front of my sub.

I was like WTF!!????!! ARRRGGGHHH, rudder hard to port, but I didn't hit it, I just headed away from the coast and have never ventured that far into the shallows since. I don't use gods eye view so that glimpse from the event camera was my only sighting of a mine. That's GWX though, always something to surprise ya.

In my SH3 Vanilla, GWX2.1, GWX3.0Gold + SH3Commander
i have never and i mean never hit a mine! I do use external view but i never had to manoeuver to avoid a mine. Even in an IX class boat.
Im almost pleasantly surprised when i happen to see a mine nearby my boat.

Mine....check the Campaign_SCR in mission editor for minefield locations.

Oneshot/Onekill 11-30-09 07:14 AM

It was a mine I tell ya...A big blooming, freakin, mine!:D

Well if it was not a Mine then it must have been that Curry the Cook made out of them left-over meat bits. :wah:

Once I lost a boat to (supposedly) mines near Heligoland... There was a loud booom, and then about 4 seconds later the death screen (I didn't get to the damage control screen in time) :(

I realize that now. But I got so spooked by the sudden explosion, I almost jumped off my chair.
And I did throw away the mouse :)

Thomsen's No Instant Death Screen mod can fix that.
Well, it will only extend the time between the boom and the end but at least you'll have time to see what happen.
Yep. Thats the price. A slower, painfull death in exchange for the answers you want. Muhahaha! :har:
