How about Lorelei, the Witch of the Pacific, or "Sea without Exit",..
both japanese submarine movies..really well done.

Sea without Exit is about the Kaiten suicide torpedoes... worth watching

WTF, no Run Silent Run Deep?! That movie was excellent in portraying the entire attack procedure for US boats. And it had ten times more in-the-sub action than Das Boot. :salute: I almost forgot it was made by Holywood. Or wait.. Hwood was actually making good movies back then. Anyone remember "The Young Lions" or "The Seventh Cross"? And what about "Cruel Sea"?

Run Silen Run Deep is my favorite sub movie. No CGI, just great looking models, real sub shots.

Want to know what really happens underway on a submarine? Watch Down Periscope. :arrgh!:

Want to know what Hollywood thinks happens underway on a submarine? Watch Crimson Tide.:shifty:

Torpedo Run (1958) – Starring Glenn Ford and Ernest Borgnine

U-571 may be a terrible movie with a terrible plot and a terrible amount of lies.

But no other movie show as many things in detail, like depth charges and overall image quality.

Platapus 11-20-09 06:13 PM

How about Crash Dive.

<ducking>

Just kidding! :D

Friends don't let friends watch Crash Dive

Jimbuna 11-20-09 06:16 PM

I always thought the best part of U-571 was the soundtrack

Reece 11-20-09 07:32 PM

The first part of U-571, the U-boat action on the German side (intro) was good!:yep:

Yes I did like that movie a lot, the famous lines:
Arm number one Azrock!
Don't worry commodore, the Bedford will never fire first, but if he fires one I'll fire one!:x Fire one!!:dead:
