Obama...Wow... Just, wow...

Is he oblivious to how much of a jerk he makes himself out to be or does he just not care? It's the symptom of my generation. Everyrthing is an opportunity for self promotion and self aggrandizement. It's why we don't have real artists or any creative types. We are great at being oppotunists and careerists but piss poor at seeing the bigger picture or having humility.

I read the linked article. Could someone please explain to me where (in that article) he makes himself look like a jerk? Seriously, I'm baffled by the quoted post... am I missing something?

I dunno just seems a bit cynical to me to refer to people you're with as a "photo op". Granted, G.W. probably felt the same way (what politician doesn't) but still... This isn't really a political thing with me, I'm a bit of a lefty on certain things and he probably said in a jokey way but in print it seems, well...

Because it is President Obama and everything he does will be criticized. Don't try to read too much into this. It is not that deep.

Even though everything he does is criticized he is being aparently papaered and not being called out on his mistakes.
No, this does not make any sense to me either, but since it is politics it probably shouldn't. Politics is like magic in Discworld.

I swear. People who dislike Obama and anything liberal will jump at "ANYTHING" no matter how rediculous to bash him and ANYTHING he does. The man can't seem to breath a breath without some conservative bitching about it. :nope:

To be fair, Bush had it the same way, it appears to be the standard in US politics.

Platapus 11-19-09 05:33 PM

I remember a quote from Lyndon Johnson.

"If I were to walk across the surface of the Potomac river, the headlines the next day would be 'President Johnson can't swim'"

We don't get quite this level of feces flinging over here, not even close. Then again we don't have two nigh on identical parties with opposing rethoric.
