Thanks Subsim Community

Some of you may recall some time back with Neal's permission i opened a thread where the various members could contribute to the March of Dimes, a foundation tasked with the noble mission of helping low birth weight infants, premature infants or infants with deformities, through my wife's web page when she was raising money for the organization.

Many of you stepped up and answered the call.

every single contribution counted... and was greatly appreciated by my wife and I.

This morning at 4:43am, my sister gave birth to a baby girl, the first of a new generation for our family... 5 1/2 weeks premature.

You never know what little curve balls life is going to throw you.

and i have no way of knowing at this point whether or not the March of Dimes will be involved in her weeks of ICU treatment to come.

but... at least one brand new, tiny little hand owes a salute to the honorable lads and ladies of Subsim.com

Thanks!

Hope mum and bub are both well. As I was 13 weeks undercooked, I know about a lot of the risks and issues.

Best of luck:yeah:

Congrats and best wishes for her health. Very glad to help, John.

4 1/2 lbs

its hard for me to imagine a human being - even an infant - tipping the scales at just 4 and a half freakin' lbs. :o

Oh man, I'm so sorry, I hit the Edit button by mistake :wah: It's right next to the quote button, sorry.

Can you repost? You mentioned who was able to visit her and the safety precautions the hospital was taking ... sorry

haha its ok.

the general idea of the edited portion of the post was...

due to the swine flu panic they are only allowing mommy and daddy with one grandparent into the ICU at a time and no "guests". In other words if you are not the mom, the dad or a paternal or maternal grandparent you're currently out of luck.

but i guess it is for the best of the infant health there so i shouldnt complain that much.

my dad took a few decent pics i got to look at... but i have not physically seen the kiddo

i have not received the pics in e mail yet, but as soon as i do, i will share.

The docs and nurses in the NICU are the best! My two premie nieces (twins) were about 2lbs at birth. They are developing normally! They laugh, poo, pee, giggle, roll over and are beginning to crawl. Janruary 1, 2010 will be their first birthday! :woot:

Good luck to mom and baby! :yeah:

Congrats John on your Unclehood. :woot:

My best to your Sister and her Brand new Daughter. :yeah:

A bit of advice John. Keep your wife away from that baby.

They see a new one then... WANT ONE. :haha:

Imagine being born into this world weighing 1 pound, 13 ounces.

Thank God for modern medicine and dedicated doctors and nurses. She's a big girl now.
