Subsim paintball part II
Okay, I'm playing paintball now, and look what I found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M8UtcJPBPE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDSAV...eature=related :yeah: I guess hanomag will want to be on my crew:yeah: I also gotta get me one of these and the mother of all ball hoppers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05JMdLrJF-M So when are we going to play again?:hmmm: |
Granted that I play paintball only at the very basic levels, but I just think that a fully automatic paintball gun kinda goes away from the spirit of paintball (at least the way our group plays it).
We like to put more emphasis on stalking, tracking, hiding, and sniping. But like I said, we are just a bunch of idiots having fun with paintballs :woot: That being said, I think the MG42 did look way way way cool :yeah: |

Stalking, hiding, and tracking are all very important parts of field paintball as a combat simulation, but when it comes down to it, they cannot match firepower. As with real combat, only four things(excluding support) really matter in a knock-down drag-out firefight: firepower, maneuver, cover, and positioning, with firepower being the most important. Even a single combatant with an automatic weapon and sufficient ammunition can obtain the remaining three requisites rather easily when pitted against a foe with semi-automatic or manual-action weapons. I'm playing paintball in a couple of weeks for my bucks day.
i hope to god the fellas don't bring something like that!:dead: |

Sounds like the paintball arms race is alive and well. I used to play back when hopper feed pumps were just taking over from the tube magazine pistols. I can imagine that given a paintballs lack of ballistic stability being able to hose your opponent with automatic fire would be a huge advantage.
