Finally a Battleship
I have been on this forum back in the day, but just opened a new account to change my Username (for several reasons, but whatever). I stopped playing the game for along time but came back to it when I was that GWX3 was out.
The real point of this post is that I finally got a battleship! November 1939, about midnight, I ran into a Nelson type north of England. She was in line with another battleship (I can't remember the type). I hit her with 3 torpedoes initially, which slowed her down from 23 kts to 6kts. Moved away and surfaced to get in another position to shoot again. She took another 3 torps to bring her down. Damn, it seemed to easy:) Cheers, OMS |
Lucky bugger :shucks: I've never ever seen one in full career mode. It's probably best if I didn't anyway, as I would crap myself and blow the kill out my arse

Yeah, it's been the strangest start to a career I've had. On my first patrol I ran into a Southampton cruiser and sunk her as well. I'll probably end up getting sunk by a mine somewhere--everything is going to well.

You would waste torpedoes on a battleship???
What do you think you have a deck gun for, decoration??? cissy!! :D |
I remember my biggest prey so far has been a hospital ship and a line crusier. To sink or not to sink anyway they were too tempting not to. I mean that's the whole point of game. I missed :damn:

Might be lucky that you missed afterall! |
For those bold, cheating or just plain lucky (I was the third), on the 31st of December 1944 in Grid AM 36, about 6 30 in the morning, two battleships with 8 escorts ran over me. Two well aimed torpedos were able to find the spot between the armor belt and torpedo blisters and sink the elderly HMS Revenge. The HMS Rodney proved to be far more durable, two torpedos wounded her and slowed her enough that two more torpedos could carry the killing blow. The depth is 112 meters and I was able to cuddle close to the sinking hulks, being lost amongst the twisted wreckage and after 2 horrible days I was able to slither away.

Two days without renewing your air supply? :hmmm:
Nice shooting BTW  |

Well, since you put it that way, I suppose we can spare a few hundred pounds.... :hmmm:

*This tactic is guaranteed. I've been exploiting this for quite some time, during the Norwegian invasion. I spot a Task Force, fire an eel under the Battleship's engine room to break its spine and then hide near it until the DDs are gone. Then the great feast begins! Muhaha! http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8...ilpinkyqa1.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/d...jpg/1/w200.png |
The most amazing thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I cheated history and the Bismarck! I got HMS Hood...could not believe my eyes...four torps, one hit below turret A and three got her below the forward stack. Sank her! I could not believe it! I was even more shocked when the destroyers gave up on finding me and I was able to slink away still alive and intact. I was in a IXB.
