Newbie needs a little help from old salts.
 

Just bought SH3 off of steam so I can get some practice in before SH5 comes out. I've been checking around in the forums and have come to the conclusion I would like the Sh3 commander and GWX 3.0 mods.

Now I already have the Sh3 commander mod downloaded, but due to the size of the GWX mod I want to make sure I have everything. I went to this link:

and see that I should download GWX3-1.bin through GWX3-7.bin correct? I also see a GWX3.exe but am unsure if I need to download that. Do I download and install the 7 seperate "bins" in order?

Lastly, I'm looking for a skin thread that has screenshots of various Type 7c sub skins I can download. Seems like due to how long the game has been out all skins are grouped together in packages without screenshots.

You need the exe and all 7 bin files.

Put them all in the same folder and double click on the exe.

Click on my sig, that will take you to the GWX website where you will find comprehensive installation instructions.

Thanks for the info. I'm set for all the downloads required for GWX3.0 and the SH3 commander. I also downloaded the SH3_Mod_DirectX9Res10 mod so I can play in higher screen resolution.

Any other mods recommended? Does fubar have a website where I can view the different sub skins before I choose which one to download?

Ok Jimbuna, I already have a problem. I downloaded the game from steam and played it to the opening screen and then exited out. I then clicked on the GWX.exe and a couple clikc into the install it won't let me proceed because it detected modded files. I have a vanilla version with nothing modded yet. What can be the problem?

Ensure you are pointing the GWX Install path at your Steam Apps folder and not the SH3 Program Folder.

If the problem persists, delete and reinstall SH3, deleting he SH3 folder in My Documents. Possibly also using a registry cleaner or system cleaner to remove all traces of the previous game.
