SH3 mission load screen freezes, yet game continues loading
 

SH3 doesn't work. :cry: Whenever I load a mission, the progress bar advances a little bit and then immediately freezes...but the game continues loading, as after a minute or two the in-game sound starts up, and the game responds to my keyboard commands...but I'm left staring at the frozen loading screen. Alt-tabbing doesn't help. This also happens with the Museum, and I assume with the Campaign as well.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1501 AMD Turion 2.0 ghz running XP with 2 gig of ram and an ATI Xpress 1150 video card.

SH3 used to work, before I decided to install a new hard drive and install XP again. The Direct X tests are fine in dxdiag, and other 3D games like Red Orchestra run without problems.

Does anyone know how to bring my beloved SH3 back?

Just realized that FSX is exhibiting the same behavior. Yet RO: Darkest Hour runs fine. WTH is going on?
