1/48 Revell P47N Thunderbolt

Evening guys, just finished my latest plane, a 1/48 Revell P47N Thunderbolt. This particular model is actually Limited Edition, 1 of 3000 done for Model Zone. I couldn't believe it, it was half price at £7 and I've been wanting to do a P47 for ages so it was too good to miss!

I'm quite pleased with the mud/dust around the wheels :)

She looks great! Nice pics.

I always ended up building 'razorbacks' because I never liked the way my bare metal finish airplanes turned out.:damn:

I could have started to go full throttle..but I facepalmed myself after noticing one thing..I don't have the right silver paint that is pretty much 60% - 70% of the models colour :damn:
this was just before my Time schedule at work changed from 5 days to 6 days a week and that hobby shop is open on the days I work and closed on my only day off, sunday.

I already started working on the P47. applied primer on all the parts and painted some big surfaces like the cockpit and some other parts.

Get some tinfoil and use it for the surfaces. :O:

Well, why not? With alot of time and patience it would work. Read some stuff about how they do it with goldfoil, shouldnt be that much different from using tinfoil. :O:

Nice work excellent job on the weathering.

ajrimmer42 10-26-09 04:16 PM

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated

Awesome job on that P-47! Your weathering is perfect. I hope to do some aircraft in the future.

I'm trying to restart the hobby. I've got two kits that were given to me that should get things rollin: a Polar Lights 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 and the Revell 1/196 USS Constitution. I've got to get all the supplies again. All that stuff adds up fast. :o Models are cheap compared to everything else you need to complete them! :dead: I've never done a sailing ship before and all that rigging looks like quite the challenge. :arrgh!:

Cheers :salute:

Few more pics, for some reason my cam reverted itself back to low quality, these are a bit better:

Time to make a small diorama to place it on. :03: Nice paint job and it is calling for a diorama to complete the war weary look you have created.
