Michael Moore can dish it out. But can he take it?

...a cottage industry that has emerged in recent years: filmmakers looking to take on the 55-year-old Mr. Moore at his own game.

There's Minnesota filmmaker Michael Wilson, who made 2004's "Michael Moore Hates America." It portrays Mr. Moore as being disingenuous to his interview subjects and profiting from their misfortune.

"Fahrenhype 9/11," written in part by former Clinton administration adviser Dick Morris, and "Celsius 41.11," directed by Kevin Knoblock, both from 2004, defended George W. Bush as he sought reelection. "Michael & Me," directed by Republican talk-show host Larry Elder, came out a year later, defending gun advocates against Mr. Moore's claims.

Then came "Me & Michael," a 2006 spoof on Mr. Moore's tactics. After director Willard Morgan pesters and follows Mr. Moore for months, mimicking Mr. Moore's style, Mr. Moore calls him a "stalker" and suggests he get medical help.

Sweet! The video is especially fun to watch, as Moore dodges people trying to interview him. :haha:

Heh heh. Given his increasingly ponderous size it's not easy for Mr. Moore to dodge anything. ;)

Well given, as Mike himself pointed out, that he's had more films criticizing him than the number he's made over the years... yeah I'd say he can take it.

Umm, that means he "can take it"? Seems like he has no choice.

Regardless of your politics, if you don't see the guy as nothing more than a disingenuous hack, you're an idiot. He's made so many false claims iand obvious distortions in his films that it only exposes the weak-mindedness of his crowd when they support him.

The fact that only one party truly distances itself from him only serves to highlight the intellectual weakness of the other. Hell, even *I* agree with some of his points - I just find myself too beholden to my integrity to have to you use tactics of spin and distortion to make the point.

I think Moore will appreciate the publicity.

I think it would be better if we just ignored Michael Moore. :yep:

Awww man I thought this was going to be about Ice Cream and Cupcakes :nope:

I dont get it Moores films have never been commercially successfull yet the guy evidently still has gobs of money. :06:

He has always been like the neighbors barking dog. You try to ignore it and hope it will stop but its annoying as hell. Just when you think its going to stop it starts up again yap yap yap.

How have his movies not been commercially successful? They are not block busters, but they also cost nothing to make compared to an entertainment film.

CaptainHaplo 10-24-09 10:55 AM

I have no problem with the guy, other than him billing his movies as "documentaries", infering they have some substance in fact.

There is a market for his brand of product. More power to him. If people are stupid enough to take information from him, or any other source, without checking out the facts themselves, then that is their own problem.

Thomen 10-24-09 11:02 AM

I remember that his books and movies where quite successful in Europe.

In my opinion, Michael Moores best appearance was as a suicide bomber in Team America.. :D

Moore tells as much half truths and full lies as those he opposes, allways have thought him to be a ****.

...uh yeah? The few films he's made have been immensely successful (Fahrenheit 9/11 alone grossed $200 million at the box office), so do you really think that, after all the ones which have been made scrutinizing him, one more is going to make him any less successful?
