Crew refuses to leave conning tower when diving

I'm running SHIV 1.5 with TMO 1.8 and all current patches. I'm in a Porpoise at the start of the war.

Two questions:

When viewing the sub in external view, the crew does not leave the conning tower for a dive. They sit there happily, starting at the sea life through their binoculars. Did a search on this but don't see anyone having the same issue. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

A less troublesome, but still irritating issue ... my sub got bombed by an airplane. No damage at all according to the DC display, but now I have a hissing leak on the bridge with a looping sound effect that refuses to go away. I don't want to spend the rest of my patrol listening to it. Is this a glitch or something that should be happening?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with both RFB and OM. If there is a solution, I would love to hear it. I think that taking the officers would make them not appear (duh :p) but AFAIK you just have to deal with them growing gills every time you dive.

Did you ALT TAB out of the game at any point?
I'm pretty sure this bug occurs when you task switch out of SH4.
A save and then reload should clear the problem.

Most likely a mod conflict.

The original game had this issue and was fixed early on like patch 1.2 or something. Seems you brought it back.

As to the leaking pipe you must have had some damage somewhere. Try activating the damage control stations for a period of time.

Otherwise there is another mod conflict or something.
