Republican Health Care Plan

They want it, just not for you.

Against this backdrop arrives a proposed resolution sponsored by U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., granting every household in the land a $3,500 tax deduction for "qualified pet care expenses." This legislation, titled the Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years Act (aka HAPPY Act), is aimed at acknowledging the crucial importance of pets in American family life in a palpable way — via your year-end bottom line.
That makes perfect sense to me. Let's note vote to give uninsured Americans medical coverage, let's give pet owners a $3,500.00 tax credit instead.

Ya just can't make this chit up.

See what kind of silly tricks required these days to try to get a tax cut

Ive been trying to find the co-sponsers and whom actually wrote this thing with little success but I'd be willing to bet its not strictly a republican idea.

I looked at his voting record and it is pretty solidly conservative

Somehow I get the feeling that this is some sort of stunt.

The passing of H.R. 3501 would allow pet owners to provide the pets in their families with better, more consistent care, potentially extending the lives of their pets. The tax deductions would also encourage the creation of more pet-related jobs.

Well, the pet industry is a multi-billion dollar/year industry. So, does my dog get it's own SS#? Come on, many think Obama is going to pay their mortgage. So, why can I not dream of a tax deduction for my dogs, Moo and Dash? How about my parrots, Wilson and Nellie? I have a cat, Nieko. Also, two guinea pigs, Nibbles and Dakota. Man, I could have a huge tax write off. :yeah:

No co-sponsors . Cotter appears to be putting it forward alone.

Whey yes. Pets are very therapeutic and this can help our health in the long term thus saving money for the government health care program. Now, were is my money for my pooch? :D

Typical Democrat ... never letting facts get in the way.

This bill (the HAPPY Act) is co-sponsored by Rep. Steve Cohen ... a Democrat.

I know the media doesn't want to report that part, but hey - a 5 second Congressional record search can yield all the answers.

Well as a pet owner and as a volunteer for pet rescues, I would be very grateful for any tax credits I can get for the health insurance to cover my pets and rescues. :yeah:

Me too. Thanks to the Republicans and Democrats.

Ah, bipartisanship. No good deed goes unpunished.

Thats strange, I looked there yesterday and no co-sponser was listed. Must have gotten updated in the meantime.

Was there all along as far I as can tell.

In fact, the very first article I read about this on - get this - Fox News - mentioned Cohen.
