Fleetboat wolfpacks
Would it be feasible ? I know lots of people ask for them for the next one (SH V) but since we have the interiors etc... could we make Fleetboats Wolfpacks ?
ludicrous ? not so much : from the first patrol of : Quote:
found it because everytime I see a different boat on someone's sig, here sunvalleyslim's, I look it up ! so ? keltos |
I think it's possible, just make an AI sub, make it compatible with the torpedo mod, then figure out a way to make it move submerged.

that happened on my birthday ! :
22 MAY 1945: 0000 SJ radar interference bearing north. Made radar contact at 0105 with source of this interference at 13,000 yds. and at 0110 exchanged recognition signals with BALAO. 0005 Converted #4 FBT. Time required 50 minutes. 0203 Dove to flush #4 M.B.T. 0500 Reached assigned station, vicinity of lat. 37 N., Long. 124 E., and became a unit of LEGIONNAIRES under the tactical command of COMMANDER N.T.KINSELLA,USN, in RAY. This group is composed of the following submarines: - RAY, SCABBARDFISH, SEACAT, BILLFISH, SHAD, BALAO & SEGUNDO. 0758 Dove. 2245 Exchanged recognition signals with RAY by SJ radar. 2312 Received contact report from BALAO, fifty mi. to the westward, went to full speed to close. 28 AUGUST 1945: 1200 Position: 39-34 N., 144-38 E. 2353 Radar contact bearing 132(T), range 5500 yds. 2355 Changed course to close for identification. 29 AUGUST 1945: 0007 Identified as large Japanese Submarine on course 290(T), speed 15 knots. 0008 Commenced tracking target, staying 4000 to 5000 yds. on his quarter. No indication of radar on the APR, 0253 SJ interference beaming 270(T). Weak. 0335 SJ interference. Exchanged calls with 6ATQ. 0417 Sent 'stop" in international code to enemy submarine. received roger. 0419 Submarine stopped. 0425 Changed course to point bow at the target. Closed to 1900 yds. 0426 Directed them to send boat. They answered they had none. 0439 Commenced getting readies our rubber boats. 0505 Rubber boat with lt. (jg) BROZO and RUSSELL, E.A. CTM aboard left the ship. 0539 Rubber boat and crew returned to the ship with Sub-Lieut. MUNEO BANDO. Held a doubtful conversation with BANDO in baby talk plus violent gestures. He said they were proceeding to OMINATO for the surrender and did not have sufficient fuel for the trip to TOKYO. This we doubted and eventually he agreed. Then decided to send Lt. BROZO and Boatswain H.L.LEVERETT with BANDO back to the target. 0600 Rubber boat and new crew left the ship. 0609 Boat secured alongside the submarine and crew boarded, Held frequent searchlight conversation with boarding party. The outcome was we would send a prize crew aboard but leave the« in control of their ship. The formal surrender was to take place at 1100 August 30 or when we entered YOKOSUKA. The matter settled this far, the boarding party and Lt. BONDO returned to us. 0720 Rubber boat alongside. 0745 More conversation (?) with BONDO agreeing on final settlement. 0755 Received permission from ComSubPac to proceed with the seizure. 0845 Prize crew, consisting of the following men left the ship: Lieut. J.E.BALSON, USNR. RUSSELL, E.A., CTM, USN. AUSTIN, RALPH S. MoMM1/c, USN. CARLUCCI, CARLO H., QM3/c, USNR. DIEKMANN, KENNETH H., EN1/c, USN. HALTON, JENISON V., TM2/C, USN. Lieut. BONDO accompanied them. Plans were to insure the tubes were secured on the target and then to proceed on course 195 at 15 knots. All the prize crew were to remain topside during the trip. Searchlight communication to be established hourly. 0905 Underway on course 195(T), speed 15 knots. (This was the 1-401, the latest thing in Jap subs according to Lieut, BONDO. It carried a plane, which had crashed during this patrol near the MARSHALL ISLANDS. The word 'torpedo' was an insurmountable barrier so we were unable to find out if they had sunk anything or how many fish they carried. He was quite proud of their diving time (1 minute 10 seconds), their maximum depth (1OO meters) and their speed (17.5) knots. He also stated they carried 200 men. This could quite possibly be an error on his part as I think the war interrupted his English instruction. Lieut. BONDO was one of the few persons I have ever seen who derived such obvious pleasure from saluting. 0945 Jap claimed engine trouble and slowed to 11 knots. 1125 TIGRONE sighted. Exchanged recognition signals. 1200 Position: 39-38 N., 143-18 E. 1325 Sent message to Jap saying fix the engine or we would come over and do it for them. 1340 Received reply that engine would be fixed in thirty minutes. 1415 Changed speed to 15 knots, changed course to 208(T) to head for point X-RAY. 1755 Jap sub stopped and said they were sending an officer over. 1815 Lt. BONDO came alongside in rubber boat. He showed us translations of Japanese dispatches, which purported to be orders for the I-401 to proceed to OMINATO. What had actually happened when we gave them permission to radio the Emperor, they had told of their capture and requested permission to proceed to OHINATO in the same text. The answer told them to take orders from us, so they tried to talk us into letting them go. I told Lt. BONDO I took a very dim view of such actions on their part and we would proceed either with handling their own ship or with the prize crew in charge. The desire to save face and surrender formally at YOK0SUKA outweighed their desire to go to OMINATO and they said they would continue. 1315 Underway on course 204(T), speed 15. 30. AUGUST 1945: 0220 Received orders from Commander Third Fleet to rendezvous at 0500 August 31. 0230 Slowed to 7 knots. 0610 Changed course to 200(T), speed 5 knots. 0945 Ordered Jap to step for conference. 0955 Commanding Officer went aboard the 1-401 to give final instructions for the surrender and resume of our plans for entering TOKYO BAY. The Commanding Officer of the 1-401, Lieut. Comdr. NEMBU (Jap Naval Academy 1934) met me on deck and made the opening statement of 'I's sorry you come". After dispensing with further pleasantries we settled down to business. The final agreement was for a formal surrender to Lieutenant BALSON at HOC August 31. Until we were secured in TOKYO BAY, the Japs were to retain the conn and administration of their ship. Informed them we would probably moor to PROTEUS as directed by Commander Third Fleet's dispatch 1115 Commanding Officer returned aboard. 1125 underway on course 200(T), speed 10. 1200 Position: 35-51 N., 141-17 E. 1535 Changed course to 235(T). 1812 Slowed to 7 knots. 2120 Received dispatch from Commander Third Fleet saying the 1-401 was transiting and to seal her radio. 2125 Sent message to Lieutenant BALSON to remove all radio tubes and report when accomplishes. 2140 Received message from 1-401 saying all radio tubes had been removed. 31. AUGUST 1945: 0117-Sighted task force consisting of 1 CV, 1 CL and 2 DD's. Exchanged calls with the USS MURRAY. 0500 American flag hoisted aboard the 1-401. 0515 Word from Lieutenant BALSON that a division Commander had committed Hari-Kari on board the 1- 401. Lieut. Comdr. NEMBU had asked permission to bury him at sea. This was granted but no body ever seen. Up until this time, no one senior to the Commanding Officer was known to be aboard. The whole situation sounded false to us. No more authoritative information was ever received after the arrival in TOKYO BAY. 0537 Sighted 10 submarines bearing 335(T), distance 10 miles. 0628 Changed course to 333(T). Changed speed to 15 knots. 0815 Changed course to 346(T). 0900 Slowed to 10 knots and fell in astern of 4 AO's and 1 AK heading for H.E.C.P. on course 080(1). 0930 Received orders from destroyer to reverse course and proceed to SAGAMI WAN with the 1-401. 1009 Changed course to 200(T), speed 15. 1125 Arrived SAGAMI WAN, circling on station. USS GATLING joined us and commenced circling. 1127 Received word from Lieutenant BALSON the formal surrender had been received. 1200 Position: 35-03 N., 139-19 E. 1222 GATLING said the O'BANNON was enroute with prize crew aboard to take over the 1-401. 1315 Sighted the O'BANNON 1320 O’BANNON told us to stop the 1-401 and have them receive the boarding party. 1330 1-401 stopped and O'BANNON commenced transferring prize crew. '. 1345 O’BANNON directed us to proceed independently to TOKYO BAY. 1351 Changed course to 095(T), speed 18. , 1427 Exchanged calls with USS YARNALL. 1453 Fell in astern of YARNALL for passage up the channel. 1520 Changed course to 010(T), entering TOKYO BAY. 1630 Entered TOKYO BAY. All stopped lying to in company with other American Submarines. 1826 moored port side to USS HADDO in nest alongside USS PROTEUS in YOKOSUKA KO. Ships present: various units of the Allied Fleets. 1 SEPTEMBER 1945: Moored alongside USS PROTEUS. I thought it was worth posting, the real account of the capture of I-401 ! keltos |

If someone could make a US fleetboat that could attack convoys along with you, that would just be great.Esp if the escorts would attack the other fleetboat while submerged, thus taking some heat off of you.Prob involves a lot of work but sure its possible.Prob wont have the interaction players would like, such as coordinating with the AI boats but something would be better than nothing.
