Accordian shredding

I enjoy clasical music very much. When I was told that an epic piece would be played on the accordian :o, I was a little dubious.

But I have to admit. Very impressive by any standard.

That's pretty good.

Here's a bad example of how not to cover classical music, the original. And same by the Portsmouth sinfonia. :rotfl2:

Are you kidding....that guy is kick butt on that instrument. If you were to close your eyes and listen to this you would think you are hearing an orchestra. Really, it sounds like violins in the beginning.

Indeed in fact at first I was thinking it was faked.

Dang OTH...that high school band murdered that piece of music:dead:

NeonSamurai 10-06-09 01:54 PM

Ya I'm not sure if that video is legit or not. It could well be as the motion of his playing looks real and more or less matched his playing, though the sound and video is out of sync by .5 seconds or more roughly which makes it hard to be sure.

I don't think it's a fake. Before I switched over to piano I took keyboard lessons from a Pole who was actually a graduated accordeon player. At auditions he occasionally played himself. Pretty amazing what he could do with that instrument.

Ummmm.... :haha: at least he dident call it an organ. :har:

Fixed for ya :03:

I do not believe this is a fake either. The accordian has a very distinct sound all it's own. That sound is there for sure.

Mamma got a squeeze box she wears on her chest....she plays it all night...the musics alright....mamma got a squeeze box...daddy never sleeps at night.

NeonSamurai 10-06-09 02:13 PM

That sound can be easily synthesized though. I think its probably legit too, but there were a couple areas where his playing didn't quite seem to match the sound even accounting for the audio/video timing difference. To be sure we would need someone who plays that kind of accordion to tell us if the fingering is right.

Flight of the Bumble Bee...accordian style:up:

It's actually spelled accordion :know:

Yay, today is smartass day :woot:;)

For many years, the accordion has been the brunt of jokes and comedy sketches. But it is too easy to underestimate the skill that is needed to play it.

AVGWarhawk 10-06-09 06:28 PM

Sure it takes skill! Both hands have many keys to operate and the movement of the air box itself creates what is heard. I believe it to be one of the hardest instruments to play. Tell you what, the first video the guy is fantastic.

SteamWake 10-06-09 09:19 PM

I just had no idea that the squezebox could produce that rich and full of tones.

Last time I saw one played was a blind mexican on the beach with a little girl shilling for shineys. It was December and he was playing christmas songs. :03:
