Fine by me. I want the game done right and not rushed out. We're looking at 3 major Blizz releases in the near future.

Starcraft 2, WoW Cataclysm which looks promising but I feel its more Activision pushing for the expansion and not Blizz. And of course Diablo 3

NeonSamurai 10-05-09 05:20 PM

I have to say after watching what Blizzard turned into with WoW, I don't know what I think about Diablo 3

100% agree. IIRC, they have done the same thing with Star Craft. The engine was outdated by then, but the game offered rock-solid gameplay. Seems to me one of the few companies that actually sticks to the "when it's done" principle. I think Blizzard won't let us down. Diablo I & II are such classics that they simply can't afford to do that.

Blizzard are my favorite game developers when they bring a game out you know its going to be damn near perfect. They could either rush Diablo 3 out with patches to follow or postpone the release and get it right.

Arclight 10-05-09 11:00 PM

It's not so much about rushing. The reason it keeps getting pushed back is because they keep releasing more crap for WoW. Rather than focus on something new everyone's waiting for, they keep milking that frickin MMO. :nope:

kiwi_2005 10-05-09 11:39 PM

Nah they would have teams working on Diablo separately, there's also Starcraft 2 as well don't forget hoping that will come out by christmas! - nothing to do with wow being the reason. They have made WoW so easy to play now for new players that with BOA gear (Bind on account) you can get from lvl 1 to 80 in 2 weeks (not gametime) or a a bit longer if you play casually its so fast that its turning hardcore players to leave the game - and not to mention end game instances are a piece of cake. Then they copied Warhammers style by allowing the player to level when in Battlegrounds pvp now so if your not into questing which i really haven't got time to run around and grab 60 kodo skins etc., then lvl up in pvp - although lvling up in pvp style can cause you to go into fits of rage and become a stalker in the game searching out that punk that ganked you 4 times in a row then laughed at you and teabagged your character just to rub it in! :har:
One night in Warsong pvp i had the whole alliance side chasing me around the map bent on ending my life i so wish i had fraps running at the time as it was damn funny to see all these players after me - how did it start a hateful rage? I laughed at one of the top players i just ganked (Konradcurze is ROTFL at you) While i was running from them in utter terror ;) our team manage to capture the flag 3 times and win.:DL

Anyways back to the topic :)

Arclight 10-05-09 11:49 PM

Ah, sorry, wasn't stating opinion. I'll see if I can dig up the article, but Diablo really is being pushed back because they want to milk WoW some more. ;)

AJ! 10-06-09 03:07 AM

Yeah but why wouldn't you milk WoW?

There are millions of players and WoW brings in some serious income for Blizzard so it makes perfect sense to get as much as possible out of the game.

A game like Diablo needs a lot of development time because there is just so much that needs to be added. All the enemies and of course the items. They need to make 3D models now for all the different armour and weapons going onto a player and then theres all the gems, custom gear, sets and uniquie items, monsters :o

Diablo 2 was a massive game in terms of how much stuff there was in game. Think about just how many weapons, armour, locations and monsters there were in diablo 2 and you get some idea of how long its going to take to bring diablo into a new 3D engine.

They also need to work on the new and old characters that are coming into the game (heres hoping the necromancer and paladin are back in)

I'm ok that they take their time with it, but seeying those videos and screenshots..its so damn tempting :O:
I really would like how the story is going to play out, knowing Blizzard it must be good.

But I wants it. :wah:

They'll have plenty of time to milk WoW some more after Diablo. :D

Ditto.

They talk about their "endless iteration" stuff but I've played a lot of Blizzard games (except WoW of course) and they're not perfect. Diablo II had serious balance issues when it was released. If there's any truth to their "endless iteration" claims then D3 had better be absolutely bloody perfect.

Castout 10-06-09 04:07 AM

:o :nope: :shifty: :DL Yay I got to save my money on other great titles such as SHV and The Old republic and Napoleon TW and still have money to pick a couple boardgames
