P.C Issue
hi hunters
have recently noticed 'something' running when im in-game. the fps slow down and stagger. first i thought it was a gaming issue, i.e mods, explosions, etc. but when i was out of game and my p.c was idling i saw the same thing happen. the red LED light below the green one was heavily flashing - making the same noises as in-game. i'm not sure whats going on as i dont have anything x-tra running when i'm in game. is there a way of detecting whats going on behind the scenes. i've had a look at Windows Task Manager. nothing going on in Applications and Processes is a long list. it doesnt happen all the time in-game but it seems to be coming more often: Anti-Virus is up to date and i regulally run checks....any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Have a browse through your services.msc, see whats being run at startup, i found iTunes to be a royal pain in the ass for hijacking your computer with multiple needless services (i mean what the heck is "bonjour service" for anyway!).

Could be your virus scanner doing its daily scan?
|
What OS do you have?
Or your system could have decided to start indexing your files for easier search purpouses. But it should really do that when the CPU is feeling bored. Which is unlikely when you are playing a game like SH3. |
Get AlactityPC or game booster and get rid of all that garbage.

thanks all for your help. my OS is Windows xp, home edition.
i am trying Alacrity. and i am wondering do i go through 'Silent hunter3' or the 'SH3 Commander' programme: i am going through the original SH3 file in Ubisoft. have been out on the east coast today (...six ships...:woot:) and have had a smooth'ish ride. though about every hour or so this 'thing' happens. screen starts to stagger and a weird hiss comes through the speakers, like a whistle. the red LED light burns brightly for a short time then everything settles down again. i have noticed in the Alacrity report that it can not 'stop' certain programmes, one of them is my Anti-Virus.......:hmmm: any way, i think Alacrity has stoped a lot of other stuff from hogging power etc....thing is it takes about 10-15 minutes for the game to load once Alacrity has run !! (..shutting down programmes in the back ground must take some doing..) thanks again Flag4 |
whats with the giant letters?
|
Please use small fonts!
Mess around:arrgh!: with the Alacrity program. Shut off everything, including wifi, all anti virus programs, screen savers, firewalls, anti spam filters, etc. If you screw up and stop something you need, all you have to do is reboot and you are back to normal. After a few trials, you will have figured it out. As for what to start, rtfm! |
its a pleasure to have my arse kicked by such GENTLEMEN!
the large font hepls my eyes...... "As for what to start, rtfm!" sorry - dont what you mean irish158? had a good day today. came home with 27.771tns. got hard chased by a destroyer but managed to hide down below next to the ore carrier i had just sunk! twice during this patrol today the 'weird thingy' happend. i had shut down internet connection and most everything else with Alacrity. so i pressed pause and jumped out of game and flicked up task manager and saw the graph chart - CPU usage, go off the register but could not see what process was doing this ?? ......i'm no computer boffin but this is facsinating. it started some weeks ago. as i have said i've done all the checks with scans and this has revealed nothing. but i shall try what you have suggested irish1958 and see what happens. thanks again.:salute: |
Nice to know which Hardware do you run?
