basic GWX question
most of the time throughout patrols, i receive a lot of radio reports about where convoys are. but they are always "AL-3447" or "AM-2312".
all grids shown in SH3 navigation are 2 digits. so how come they keep giving me 4 digits? am i supposed to take the first and the third digit to identify the square grid, followed by the second and fourth digit to zero in on the contact?? |
Aye matey. Just put another 9-square grid inside AL34, and pick out where the next 4 would be, then make another grid and pick out where the 7 would be.
The numbers only denote ever decreasing grid sizes. |
If you look at the pull-down GWX map (that has all the convoy routes on it) you can see how the sub-grids are arranged... there's a legend at the bottom right of the map. But basically, it's pretty simple, the third number is a subgrid and the fourth number is a sub-subgrid. Take your sub to the sub-subgrid and scrub some schlubs.

The radio messages in the main are for immersion purposes only.....you don't need to pay them too much attention. |
WELCOME ABOARD!:sunny:
Get SH4 Gold - its maps go right down to the 4-digit subgrids. But then you wouldn't have GWX. Not much of a trade-off, really, but it is easier to understand. Never mind. Just follow the directions already given and you'll get it in no time. |
