[TEC] Too many faces!
So I have found a great new model of the Hiyo carrier, just one problem, it has 64k faces! I can only open it in 3DS max, wings 3D can't even open it!
I was wondering if anybody could help me get the face count down to a more reasonable number. If you think you can help I will send you the 3D model via message. Thanks : Miner |
I think that's either just under or just over S3D's limit. :hmmm:
Wish I could help. but I'm only good at making more faces :D |
@miner1436
you have to split the 3d modell! split it into several parts and then make for example 3 3D models in the .dat file. that should do the trick and work! |
I would like to try that but I don't know how to split it using 3DS max, I only use it for making AO maps.
|
if memory serves me right Misfit Model 3d can handle a 65k face model.
|
Yea, tried it and Misfit can load it, too bad i don't know how to use it.
|
I uploaded the file to my FileFront, it has a lot of things on it that could be deleted to make a lower face count, mostly guns and the bridge. If somebody could do this it would mean a lot to me.
http://www.filefront.com/14628167/hiyo.zip/ Thanks:Miner |
I'll take a look at it and send it back asap
EDIT: That explains a lot, the guns themselves are practically a whole submarine model in itself EDIT TWO:when I got the model running it said the model was actually somewhere around 165,000 faces O_O but after eliminating the guns it's down to 80,000. should be pretty easy to split up by yourself. |
Sweet can you post a link?
Thanks you will be included in the credits : Miner |
yup, uploading to rapidshare. there will be only 10 downloads and I know a lot of poeple will want to look at it, so let me know if you can't get to it.
EDIT: http://rapidshare.com/files/287010986/boat2.obj.html 88,000 recorded faces. those doors are equally facey. you could perhaps come up with a lower poly version and be done with it |
Thanks! Work has started and its allready down to 38k pollys.
|
that'll fit in S3d :yeah:
and you are welcome! |
