HELP-JSGME
I tried to unistall all mods so could run a different mod via JSGME, all disabled down to TMO 1.7, then got an error message saying could not disable TMO because the merchant and warship smoke mod must be disabled first, yet the JSGME display shows all mods disabled except TMO.
Deleted all the mods, JSGME, unistalled, then reinstalled SH 4, reinstalled JSGME, still shows TMO enabled and gives same message, even though I deleted those mods. I am lost on this one and need some help, rather aggravated.Anyone who can help. Running Windows Vista |
Bubblehead1980,
Have you deleted your save game files in your "My Documents" folder? |
re
running vista.Went to the documents folder, there is nothing to do with SH 4 under the saved games.
Clean install of SH 4, all mods and folders deleted.Reinstalled JSGME, opene back up, still shows TMO 1.7 enabled. Tried to disabled it, got the old message "TMO 1.7 can not be disabled, TMO 1.7 different smoke merchants warships has overwritten files and must be removed first. |
Check virtual store; if clear, then delete JSGME. If virtual store is not clear get rid of anything to do with SH4. Go to your SH4 folder and delete any remaining files from the JSGME folder., including the mods folder. reboot and reinstall JSGME, and reinstall your mods
Be sure you have read the JSGME readme. |
what you have is leftover files were still there after you uninstalled sh4
uninstall the game and then go to your directory and delete any remaining sh4 or ubisoft folder then reinstall the game and that will fix it. if a mod was still installed (and it was saying it was) then just unistalling the game wont remove any of the "modded" files so they will be left behind and the new install will merge with then to cause more issues. |

I had a nightmare applying mods to this game under VISTA , until I turned off UAC. Since then no problem. Even though you uninstall SH4 you'll find all the mods you have enabled are still in your virtual store. So when you reinstall JSGME sees them right away. I thought I was going mental until I figured that one out :DL You will find the rogue files in User/appdata/local/virtualstore (if my memory serves me correctly). Conveniently it's a hidden folder. I can't remember how I got it to show, but I first found it by using the search command and looking for appdata. Should take you right there. Good luck mate, figuring out where vista puts stuff can be a bloody nightmare. If you are in a position to turn off your UAC then it would make your life a lot easier. Turn it off, uninstall, manually delete everything SH related in your virtual store then reinstall. With UAC off this issue should no longer happen. I don't really know much about PCs, so I don't know if I am explaining it very well. Maybe someone with more knowledge that me could pop in and explain properly what the hell vista is doing. And correct me if I have made any glaring errors. |
to get hidden files to show in xp you open any folder (it needs an open folder to give you the correct options) click on top toolbar on "tools" then "folder options" then select the view tab and the second yellow folder on the list says "hidden files and folders" select to "show" and say ok
you should make sure you reselect to "hide" them again when you are done because its a safety feature to keep you from messing with files you shouldnt be messing with. but this hidden folder should be removed when you uninstall the game so i dont think its your problem since you've already done it. |
