game crashes
 

Ok - d/l GWX Gold and the DBSM and no matter what single player mission I attempt, the game crashes around 25 minutes into it, just when I am having some success at sinking ships. The error report that popped up said ModName: sound.act if that helps. What evil forces lurk to prevent me from simply enjoying this frigging game???

Uninstall via JSGME the DBSM sound mod << sign. Only when docked in port or start a new career.

You will see that your game will run without the specific error.

Exactly the same problem as you and guess what? Both using DBSM.....

Disable DBSM and test the game without it. If it works then I suggest using Thompsen's Soundpack, it too has Das Boot soundbites and I've been using it with GWX no problemo.

Some DBSM sound mods are incorrect downloads, you can use Thomsen Sound pack v.4 or DBSM made by Sailor Steve.

You can download the above mods here on subsim.com. There is also a DBSM_SH4.7z, an imrpoved version of the older DBSM. 123 MB.

will the Thompsen sound mod download with regular win zip or 7-zip? i already disabled the DBSM via JSGME and will try game again and report back. thanks for the tips.

7-zip should open it no problem, I use winrar but the same principles apply.

got rid of DBSM and game works fine now...may or may not d/l the Thompsen sound mod.

Yeah, just spend a bit of time getting the feel for GWX before you add anything else. Glad you're finally seaworthy.
