Protractor and ruler upside down and left to right?

Is it me or is the protactor and ruler in help mode with compass seem wrong. My protactor has 180 north and 90 degrees looking west with 0 being south , and 270 at my right looking like east. Is this screwy?:88)
can I fix this? Captain Herman

The idea is that when you extend a line out radiating dead north from the centre of the protractor tool and take a reading it will indicate 0 degrees. YOu don't look at the protractor itself, you take into account the LINE that you are reading, then the protractor makes sense and you can see why it has to be that way. Remember, the protractor is about angles, not single points. SO it wants you to measure the angle of a BEARING...or line. Once you begin drawing out a line you'll notice that now the protractor ISN'T upside down because it's taking into account the bearing you are drawing in relation to a straight course.
Most people make this mistake. :03:
