Cant believe I gotta ask this..

Yea I searched "Edit key commands" "keyboard commands" etc. specified SH4 forum only and wow what a lot of noise :haha:

Anyhow its been a long time since I did anything besides just install a mod.

Sooo here it is a NOOB question from Steamwake :har:

Where in the heck is the key command list (keystroke commands)?

I want to edit out the D=dive cause its killed me at least three times now after getting used to wasd map pan :oops:

Even at moderat time compressions its leathal.

For XP the path and file is:

- Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg

"Commands.cfg"

mcf1 09-05-09 10:06 AM

In "commands.cfg" the dive command is [Cmd192]

SW, you and I play alike.... I'm constantly blowing ballast in the worst times because of my WASD gameplay habits. I wish the CAMERA was using these instead of the arrows.

Does anyone have an actual list of the hot keys? I know dive and periscope depth and surface, but how do you guys LAUNCH torpedoes?

Is there a hotkey for each tube? or what?

The "commands.cfg" file can be opened with Notepad. Depending on what mods you're using, the file may or may not be different from that of the default game. Either way, you can determine which hotkeys have been disabled ... they will have a semicolon ( ; ) in front of them. Other commands will have no hotkey assigned.

From the file, you can make a list of enabled hotkeys that reflects your current mod status.

awesome! thx :up:

So: If I want to set heading to the bearing I'm looking down in the periscope / UZO I can use the PLUS (+) key?

[Cmd148]
Name=Heading_to_view
Ctxt=1
Key0=0xBB,,"+"

Or alternatively, I can see the down the zero instantly (course heading) by using the MINUS (-) key?

[Cmd149]
Name=View_to_heading
Ctxt=1
Key0=0xBD,,"-"

And...what is this? Captains' bed view?? LOL

[Cmd40]
Name=Captains_bed_view
Ctxt=1
Page=0x33000000,3724
GoBack=Interior_radio_camera

Munchausen 09-06-09 01:13 PM

"Captain's Bed" is a leftover from SH3 and probably works for the U-Boat add-on to SH4 (I can't be sure ... for U-Boats, I still prefer SH3). When the key is active, it moves your point of view to wherever the bed is located. (Notice that, when you right-click from the bed, it takes you back to the radio room.)

As for the others, you got it right. :03:

Ctrl-enter launches the torpedos, "w" cycles the forward tubes "e" the after tubes, and "q" opens the torpedo tube doors on what ever tube is selected

Thats actually modded.... the default for firing torpedoes is an extremely aggrivatting "Enter". :oops:

Yep that enter key you know right below the time compresson key? :damn:

This was the first mod I made to this game way back when and its still the first change I make if the current mods dont change it.

Oh and thanks for the reminders guys. My crew are greatfull they grew tired of suddenly being snuffed out after a couple of hours of successful patrol.

Okay so I open and edit the commands.cfg something like this...

Quote:

[Cmd192]
Name=Dive
Ctxt=1
Str=1030
Key0=0x44,C,"Ctrl+D"

[Cmd193]
Name=Surface
Ctxt=1
Str=1031
Key0=0x53,C,"Ctrl+S"
The game continues to use the old d and s keys. :-? :06:
