Glitched planes.

I just loaded up GWX to see how well my computer would handle the 16km mod. My save file is in the Wilhamshaven harbor, before actually entering the main sea. When I first loaded the save I could hear two planes flying over head. I'm looking in all the directions; amazed at the difference the 16km mod makes.

I look back to the actual port part of WIlhamshaven and see two large billows of smoke. Confused I cycle through the ship camera to see what it is. I eventually cycle to the cause of the smoke. There's two planes half submerged in the water going in circles. They're both on fire. :haha:

Is this just a bug that randomly happens, or does it have something to do with the 16km mod? I did shoot at birds with my AA guns but I don't believe I came anywhere near hitting either planes. I would've taken a picture but I am not aware of how to do it.

Others have posted similar sightings of secret "lUft-boats" undergoing sea trials. They were never heard of again. :O:

I'd say its a bug because you saved close to, or within, the harbour confines. Could have been worse. You could have had a corrupt save and lost it completely.

To minimise such bugs, you should never save close to land or harbours.

Definitaly a "Bug".....Haven't seen it, but when my rig was just barely compatiable I saw a lot of wierd stuff.....:D:D

Damn, after viewing this I saved again in the harbor. I hope I didn't corrupt my save file.

When you save within rendering range of units they automatically lose their scripted waypoints as a consequence.....ships sail into harbour walls and beach themselves and yes, planes tend to crash into each other.

Not a game bug but more of a user bug :DL

I'd call it a game bug, but not a GWX bug. Hard for it to happen in the stock game, since there aren't any ships or planes anywhere near friendly harbors.

This would explain why there were 4 or 5 ships clustered into each other on onside of my map.

Whats the key to take pictures in game?

I've seen small ASW boats and armed trawlers sail straight into the shore or other obstacles in an effort to try and get at me. I've also seen Luftwaffe planes balls up their dive bombing, pulling out too late and going straight into the drink. I could understand it if they were attacking an naval vessel and got hit by ack ack but the plane was attacking an unarmed merchant! And all this without mid mission saving to foul stuff up.

Get yourself a screen capture software programme....some are free, I prefer fraps (it's not free though).

These programmes allow you to take multiple screenshots and store them into a folder of your choosing.

Thanks for the tip, Jimbuna :salute:

I might try one of those...free ones. I like to put some pictures on to my patrol report

If you are using the resolution fix the "Print Screen" key places a TGA image where you specify during setup. These can easily be converted to any image format using something like Irfanview.
