Have Sony lost it?
 

No Idea where to put this. Gaming related so....

I ask myself why have they spent millions on design and development and reached a conclusion that this fugly thing is a good idea.

That BTW is the new PS3 Slim model on sale globally Sept 1st.

It offers nothing new, except a 45nm CPU but that will offer no improvements across the OS or game library, it has a cheaper BR drive, no SD card inputs, only 2 USB connections....the list goes on. Basically it's a redesign of the beautiful behemoth original:

TBH, that's like taking a baseball bat to Aishwarya Rai's face, dressing her in a hessian sack and saying "how you doing good looking?". Why mess with perfection (aesthetically speaking).

Actually, Sony is losing money on each unit again. Don't ask me how, they indeed claim it's cheaper to build, but somehow it's costing them more than the "old" units. :-?

True, the Slim will still make a loss but definitely not more than the Phat model, that's been admitted by Kaz Hirai. However, he also admitted that the shortfall is more than made up by the sales from games and peripherals. As a whole, the gaming devision of Sony actually made profit last/this year. Which surprised me.

The lack of games is still a problem. I was thinking of getting a console recently, and the price cut made me take a long hard look at a PS3. The console itself is clearly superior to the X360, but the X360 has the games I want, while the PS3 doesn't, so the PS3 lost out.

Me too, console gaming is the plague. Everything must be plug n play and immediate action.

Thats the whole point, Its all cheaper. Cheaper components = cheap.

They're looking to save some money on making these expensive cheap fugly thingies. :haha:
