Stock or Grey Wolves?
I'm kind of new to SHIII.
I installed Grey Wolves but could not identify the ships in the manual from the torpedo training mission....(I swear the boats were not in the manual). My question: Since I'm new, would I be better off enjoying SHIII Stock version versus what appears to be the more complicated Grey Wolves version? I could always install Grey Wolves later I guess. Thanks! |
I suggest You using GWX. In stock game most of the ports are empty, without ships or battle ships. In GWX You have more ships in ports, bigger convoys, more units. Supermods, like GWX, fixes many stock game bugs, and are more historical accurate. Personnaly I don't use supermods because I changed game by myself, but durning about 2 years. For You is better to use one of the supermods I think before You learning some things about modding or cheating.

Yea, I just tried playing the stock version after playing GW and for the visual/sound improvements alone I think GW is worth it.
I have heard good things about GW so I will stick with it and just adjust the realism options. Thanks. |
aye stick with it, its a MAHOOSIVE improvement over stock defo.

Get GWX 3.0 + SH3 Commander + JSGME
Difference is as far away as black and white. |

You have to use the SH3's version of the holy trinity "GWX 3.0 + SH3 Commander + JSGME".

I was not a HUGE fan of SH3 stock but I played from time to time.
Did not know about the first GWX but loaded GWX2 and it was WOW I loved it. Then the game took too much out of my real life and I walked away. Wanted to get back in and stumbled upon GWX3 WOW WOW WOW I also played this third party mod but forgot the title (bought off of ebay) and week later installed GWX GWX plus sh3 commander rule I have not played in last two weeks due to real live stuff but it's early '41 and I'm scarred to be in shallow waters. Can't wait to get transferred to coastal France. |
