2 questions

my load time at the start of a mission is about 14 minutes is it that long for everyone else? Also if you are at sea when the war ends is it still possible to attack ships or no? thanks

gordonmull 08-18-09 05:20 PM

About two or three minutes over here.

Can't help you on post 1945 stuff. Couldn't even help you on post 1942 stuff - never made it that far!!!

My old machine took about ten minutes to load. now I don't have a good enought rig

sharkbit 08-19-09 09:54 AM

I'm assuming you're using GWX. Stock always loaded pretty quick. Once I got GWX, the load time increased considerably due to the huge increase in units.
My old machine took about 14-16 minutes to load as well, even after doing some RAM changes.

I got a better computer from my wife's work after they upgraded in March/April and now the load times are half of that. :woot:

Can't help you on the 1945 thing. I haven't made it that far yet.

:)

My load times are not as long as 14 mns..maybe 5-7 minutes, I have never timed it. :hmmm:

As far as the end of the war after about 7 careers, I have yet to survive til the end of the war... hedgehogs.. :nope:

Task Force 08-19-09 10:33 AM

im getting about 1-4 mins here... it changes time to time.:yep:

Sailor Steve 08-19-09 12:08 PM

It takes mine 10 minutes or more. It's because of all the extra units, and is one of the few things you really can blame on GWX.

In a good way, of course.

These are my loading times:

SH3 in 1 minute
SH3 + NYGM 2½ minutes
SH3 + GWX 3½ minutes
SH3 + LSH3 4 minutes
SH3 + WAC 6 minutes

All, when you have passed the first loading screen. For example: load a career.

MacBook Pro 15" with BootCamp and Windows XP SP3 (and solid sate harddrive).

I suppose that the above loading times are quick, and assume it is because the solid state drive. :yep:

Kapitan Soniboy 08-19-09 01:37 PM

SH3 + GWX 3.0 = 1 minute

tomfon 08-19-09 01:53 PM

It usually takes 2 and 1/2 min at most for SH3+GWX3 to load on my rig and less than 2min for SH3+NYGM3.3. Make sure you keep your disk defragmented guys.

No idea about my load times. The initial load is pretty quick - maybe 45secs? But after selecting my career save-game or single mission, I usually bugger-off and make a pot of coffee and a sandwich for the coming night's game-time! When I hear the diesels throbbing, I go back in the room! Yeah - it's quite a while to load! :haha:

Correct!

100% true, that's a Windows issue, we (Apple people) don't need any defragmentation on our OS. You certainly need to use defragmenter with every installation.

Mlody 08-20-09 03:39 PM

well, for me it takes about 7 minutes, and i can't see any improvment after defrag, cause from what i know there is no significant difference for NTFS drives.

1945 you can attack ships but you have to be very cautious in selecting your targets. Lone unarmed merchants are rare and anything with an escort is likely to be a handful as the detection gear is getting to the stage where you are going to be detected 80-90% of the time unless you are extremely careful and lucky.

I'm suprise nobody has answered the latter part of your original post :hmmm:

When the war ends everything reverts back to a neutral status.

Don't forget though....if you attack a neutral you are regarded as an enemy for the following 24 hours.
