Minor graphics glitch - Any Ideas?
I have a minor graphics glitch while running OLC Gold. The reflections of land (near the horizon) and ships (lines between masts and other small details) seems to be producing artifacts. In the case off the land it looks like small horizontal shafts of contrast racing back and forth as my sub rocks. The ship reflections cause small blocks on the finer reflections.
The problem only occurs with OLC (tested, no other mods/graphics fixes running). I have also isolated each setting for my gfx card (Nvidia GTX 285) and the only thing that helps is removing AA completely, the jaggies hide the artifacts.:damn: (I only use setting recommended on these forums). The artifacts get worse at higher AF settings. Any ideas on where to look next? Cheers, Mordakai. |
screen shot?
sounds like it could be an AA issue? a screenie would help others make a diagnoses and post possible fixes. |

Heres another screenie. Alot more obvious in this photo :damn:. Note the jagged appearance of the reflection. It also shimmers as you pan.

That looks normal to me...it is the reflection of the shoreline on the water surface.

Just to clarify. The reflection moves left and right and blinks as I pan.

The strange white darting items you see running across the sea
Just under the horizon are normal they sometimes happen in my Own mods as well. If you look at the ocean around your sub you should be able to see white foam showing sometimes on the waves ….when this happens far away from the sub it sometimes shows when looking at certain angles like what you are seeing near to the horizon. The second problem of the reflections is stranger ..but if you think about the amount of graphical information being processed in the screen shot you are showing especially with the flags showing as well it maybe making your graphics card lag slightly. I remember not so long ago I brought a new graphics card thinking it would improve the performance of the game ..it didn’t the screen stuttered and all kinds of problems happened. I cured that by throwing that card in the bin and going out and buying 4Gb of ram and a Geforce 9800Gt card that sorted that :salute: Edit i do see somthing strange the the second set of pictures ...the last time i went there Southampton was spelt like this not Shouthampton |

Give it at try ... experiment with drivers! :DL @ SeaWolf: Sorry for my incorrect English language and grammar. I understand it must be: Southampton. Edit: I suppose my English is better then your Dutch! :know: |

Und Deutsch ist auch kein Problem. Ou la langue française... Italiano etcetera! That's why I play SH3 in German. I can understand it. Take care mate  |
Unfortunately different drivers havent solved the problem :(. Thanks everyone for trying to help out. Its probably just a problem with OLC on my gfx card. OLC has a great environment but i think ill try some other environment mods. Anyone got a recommendation for a 16km environment mod (GWX3 compat)?

Well not sure that drivers are your answer...I have had the jaggies since reformatting my HD and only when downloading and installing certain MODs into JSGME have I been able to get rid of them. As far as reflections. I have never been able to get rid of them because they really are not a nuisance, to me anyways.

Did you try to uninstall all other mods, so use only SH3 + GWX 3.0 and OLC "Gold" MkII? Because I see a flag on your U-Boat? Where did you found that flag? |
