Circular mark for convoy
 

This is the first time I have seen a convoy marked like this?
On patrol at May 1941 Rockall Banks area.
What does it mean?

I know that convoys are marked with square, task forces are diamonds.
Single ships are square for merchants, diamonds for warships and circles for submarines.

But circle marked convoy?
Hmmm....

The convoy is actively being shadowed or engaged by AI U-boat.. :hmmm:

You know, that actually makes good sense because when I approached the convoy I noticed at least one ship on fire but still afloat...

To tell ya the truth I stay away from convoys that have been harrased by the AI subs. Because they are so spooked and skittish the zig zag is alll over the ocean. Its like a drunk walking down a small hallway. :rotfl:

The shape is denoted by the lead vessel in the formation, in this case a submarine.

If the AI sub had been attacking from the rear and the lead vessel had been a merchant, you would have seen the usual shape. :03:

i've seen a few subs trailing convoys and getting pounded by the DD's (better him then me man.)
i'd love to see a convoy led by a sub, what a kill that would be!

In my current career, I came across one of those convoys. I thought it would be cool to see an AI sub so I plotted an intercept course.

I reach the intercept point, and head under to listen on hydrophones.

Chirping? What the?

Dolphins! It was a convoy of dolphins that turned up as a contact on my map! :damn:

You have to listen real close with an expensive set of headphones and the latest hydrophone upgrade.....but if you really concentrate you might be lucky enough to hear a shrimp fart.

We hear plenty of that on Bean Night which is just about any nigt. Hopefully the DDs don't pick it when someone lets one rip and we're Running Silent.
