Pissed off........ctd

Why why why why why. died in my last game so rather then start from a point which I was alive, I said, let's be fair and start over.

Started over, shakedown1, shakedown2, 3rd patrol was going great.
Even sank a warship. Made sure I saved it surfaced. came back just now and it ctd right before it comes on. I tried it 2 ways, once thru commander and once without. well probably more then once.
This game is going back to collecting dust real soon.:damn:

I'm starting to think its SH3 Commander.

DaveU186 08-09-09 05:48 PM

I noticed an increase myself after I started using SH3 Commander. I just try to get around it by only playing when I have enough time to complete a patrol either without saving, or with only one save.

Had one anyway the other day though, just after sinking a passenger liner and two large merchants in a convoy in 1943. :damn:

So do you think we should start the game without SH commander. I tried and it still failed but I am talking about future games.

Should we uninstall commander totally??? any opinions? :stare:

I've been using Commander since the day it was released, and have never had a problem that I could trace to its doorstep. It works externally and doesn't interfere with mods normally.

Any CTDs I've ever had could invariably be attributed to bad mod combinations or something my video or sound card couldn't handle. If it's only happening when you use Commander then it might be a mod that interferes with one of Commander's functions, but other than that I don't see how it could be.

As you said, CTDs might happen due to mods incompatibility, but CTD happened on stock sh3 and they are happening with GWX. SH3 commander has nothing to do with ctds at all. I would say this game has been made buggy for crashing to desktop from the very begining because of it's structure rather because of mods..

I must say that in my experience SH3 Commander is an extremely sound/stable piece of kit.

The simple fact is the SH3 engine is at best.....temperamental and not always tolerant of changes.

Nope

there you ' re wrong Contact . If you die , and decide that you want to start the patrol you died in , you must never start SH3Cmdr right away , it crashing to desktop at ONCE . YOU MUST START IN THE GWX GAME , OR STOCK sh3 :yep:

Even if it's true. This is so useless issue to pay attention at.. I play DiD style anyway. :D

And as long as I'm keeping myself a Fair player, this crashing can be justifiable. You can;t cheat death and reborn :P

This might be interesting. After patroling for a while I did a brief testing today, saved my career and started moving nav map quickly and a few seconds latter - CTD happened. I am using Rez Fix, don't know why but I removed it and reloded the game, did the same thing with nav map and it didn't crashed. Could there be a chance that rez fix is causing crashes somehow ? :-?

Jimbuna 08-11-09 09:33 AM

Highly likely.....I play using a 22" flatscreen but don't use the res fix personally.

Contact 08-11-09 09:43 AM

It would be appreciated if somebody else could try to do the same as I did and see if it crashes or not.. Cuz now I'm thinking maybe I am the only one who gets ctd.

danlisa 08-11-09 09:51 AM

SH3 Commander is 100% stable.
GWX is 100% stable.
SH3 Rez Fix SP2 is 100% stable.

PROVIDED you use them as instructed.

What I find amusing about these threads is the lack of details.

OMGZ!!! CTD arggggghhhhh! Does not help!

In an attempt to diagnose the OP's problem.

1) Was this a 100% clean installation of SH3 1.4b and then GWX 3.0?
2) Was the SH3 folder in My Documents deleted?
3) Are you using previous Game save files?
4) Did you install the GWX specific SH3 Commander Files?
5) Did you activate any mods without rolling back Sh3 Commander first?

Seriously, there are lots of areas where you can balls up your game if things are not done correctly.
