Speaking of mods ...
 

Call me daft but hunting down mods seems difficult for me. I guess I am used to finding them in one place and with images to see what I am looking for. For instance, Sailor Steve mentions 3-4 I am interested in but alas still no joy finding a link that works or the mod. Also if one could see the mod's 'image' one could make a reasonable choice as to whether one cares to install. Many 'sound' appealing in their description. But what do they look like? Just my opine!

Mods I am looking for:

My Type VIIB has no character now, no rust, no exterior weathering and a bland gray (in the old sim edition it looked more realistic).

I would like the mod that has the LIFERAFTS.

And, maybe a mod that improves the water. I thought the previous had much better water graphics. Maybe a setting issue in a config file?

My hatch mod will not allow me to go from the control room to my bunk or visit with the hydrophone or radio operators (bug?).

LifeBoats&Debris_v4 by Rubini will add the lifeboats you're looking for and it really does add to the realism - an excellent addition. Look in the downloads section here at Subsim:

Most skin mods have a screenshot or two included so you can see what they're like before installing and I'm pretty sure bts-mods shows a mini screenshot on the page so you can check it out before d/l. Shouldn't be too difficult to find a skin to suit your needs. :)

Man I'm with you this. I too saw SailorSteves collection. Immediately I went about looking for Mods. I went to the Search, to Subsim Downloads, Vendatores drive through, BTS, Sh3 Mods work shop, only to come up empty on some mods.

Steve I really appreciate the recommendations, but sometimes they're hard too find.

I'm looking for the Eagle Tower Insignia......I search and can't find one thread with eagle tower. Can You Help?

Kiel Canals....I go to the D/L site and it takes me to travelr1942 but doesn't show a canal D/L

I would like the no rank mod. GWX has no medals but my guys still have rank.

I d/l lifeboats from Rubini but can't find rowers from Privateer. He's on BTS but doesn't show that Mod.

Now I realize over the years I've seen or read about these D/Ls but when I look at my download folder I don't quite have what I need.

I was hoping that when Subsim Downloads started that we would be able to find all of our Mods in one easy location.
Now I realize that some modders have come and gone, or have been away for awhile. Or maybe they want to mod at a different site.
So I guess what I'm saying is that we love the fact that you guys can come up with different sites. It's just that I feel bad that I have to ask instead of finding it myself.....

To be honest I must agree with Sunvalley ... there are sooooo many mods and they are quite hard to find.

In Dutch we say: "Ik zie door de bomen het bos niet meer", which means the following.

"Because of the trees I cannot see the wood anymore" :D

On subsim they are hard to find because if you search you will get huge results. Or my searching skills are not THAT good.

I am searching (a long time now) for flags on all U-Boats like they had in RL.

When I listed my own mods setup I tried to include the authors. Did you go to Search Downloads and try typing in the authors?

Let's see...I didn't know exactly where to look either, so Iwent to Subsim Downloads Search and typed in Eagle,Tower. Yes there is a long list but right in the middle of it was

For No Rank Or Medals I went to the Advanced Search section. Under Kewords I typed in 'Rank' and 'Crew', put in 'Dertien' as the author and specified 'SH3 Mods Workshop'. I didn't see that particular mod, so I'll put it up tomorrow.

I went to Advanced Search again and typed in 'Kiel', named Nautilus42 as author and got

Under Search Downloads I put in 'Rowers' and got

I guess I wasn't putting enough info into the search to narrow somethings down.
Going to traveler1942 for the Locks Brunsbuettel/Kiel-Holenau I don't see the mod listed in his mods group unless its under a different name.
There's a couple of other mods too, but I'll try finding them on my own using your system......and if I can't find them, I'll call on you......All you guys are the best......:up::up::up:

It seems that it's just for Type VIIb. I've never tried it so I'm not sure...

Gents all. Thanks for the inputs. Very much appreciated! Quick question. I have 2 careers going in SH3 Commander within the same time span - do I have to wait until both careers are over to install a mod? Or do I have to be in port?

Simply be in port....although some mods such as sound or some graphics don't require it. Best be on the safe side and enable the mod whilst in port.

As Jim said, it is safer. However, I did enable via JSGME a couple of mods without any problem.

My experience is to save game only surfaced and no enemy ships in your vicinity (nearby).
